Truck's being repaired

I had a laundry list of problems with my 05 f150 5.4, so I took it in to have them fixed by a friend of mine whose a ford mechanic. Here's what they're doing for me:

new driveshaft
replacing blower and squirrel cage
new tranny seals
clutch packs replaced
tire balance and rotation per tsb
steering rack replaced
new wiper cowling
pcm reflash per tsb
new seat cover

I know I'm going to be happy with the truck once I get it with all these new parts. No more gremlins.

Why are they giving you a new driveshaft exactly?

I aparently have one that was the old design with pressed in cups, and am getting a re-engineered one that doesn't have balance issues.

WOW! You are having some problems with yours. How many miles on it? So far, I had to have the throttle body replaced at 1600 miles and the reflash. No other problems. Hope all that fixes your truck. Is your Ford friend at an area dealership?

It only has 11,000 miles. It's at Hillard.

I've been having a clunk under hard acceleration ONLY sometimes, it doesn't do it all the time. I can't figure out if it is the PCM or the driveshaft/slip yolk.

My driveshaft it seems was the root cause of my driveline vibe at 55 mph and above.

Mine has 17,600. I have been so thankful that I have not had the vibe issue. Mine was built November, 2004, the period when there seems to be so many problems. We drove it to Sugar Land and back this past week and it was smooth as silk. It drives and handles better than any car I have owned. On the way back Monday night, coming out of Waco, hooked up with two other supercrews, a blue one and a white one. We made good time down I-35. Hope they get your truck fixed as it should be.

It is quite smooth. Mine wes built 10/04. Great cruiser. The first month I had it we went to Port Aransas. I averaged like 18-19 mpg fully loaded with a headwind going 75 mph. Love the truck, even with the problems I've had that I won't have anymore.

I worked at a dealership for about 3 years in the parts department. I was the parts man for the service techs and I can tell you right now I sold many of these components while working for them.

Man I loved that job. If they just paid worth a damn I would go back to it and get out of IT.

One of my favorite jobs was the least paying, but my favorite is the best paying and most current.

As fa ras the truck goes, I can't wait to see (and feel) the difference.

Just curious, did your knowing someone there help in getting the proper service? You had said you were having trouble at County Line. Was wondering, since Hillard, Nichols, Texan, Liberty and County Line are all owned by AutoNation.
