Just curious...do you have pics of the switch inside?
Here is the switch...its a momentary "on" push button switch. I am going to put another one on the opposite side of the cig lighter just to even it out.

Thanks but we were all doing a pretty good job of just ignoring his idiotic comment. I mean we cant all have the personality of Eddy Haskell and drive his dad's boringly plain white pick-up truck.....

(Taildraggers AWSOME ride!)

That's a good looking work truck! I can tell by the color. I can't hear the horn though, needs a train air horn.

Horn button

So...RamSST. Does the button you installed come with the horn or did you have to make this yourself? Thanks for all your input.

No, it only comes with directions to make the factory horn button blow the horns. I bought the switch off ebay and wired it in.

Those train horns are friggin awesome!!! I think a cool switch would be one of those with the big red safety cover that flips up..and then the spring loaded switch beneath that. You could put a label over that switch...."Warning...use only only in emergency...or non-driving *****'s"

On mine, I wanted to keep the factory horn as well as control the train horns with the steering wheel so that in the case of a panic situation, I wouldn't have to go hunting for a remote mounted button

So I installed a couple of toggle switches and relays...

The On/Off Foglight switch on the left controls the pressure switch/relay for the air compressor....

It's tied into an ignition source in the case of pressure loss, the compressor won't keep cycling....

The left toggle switch powers a relay for the stock horn....

When it's flipped on, the stock horn blows with the steering wheel button....

The right toggle swtich powers a relay for the train horn solenoid....

When it's flpped on, the train horns blow with the steering wheel button....

And of course when both switches are on, both the stock and train horns blow with the steering wheel button

I'll be relocating the dimmer switch and adding another flip switch in its place when I install my new K3LA horns

Another idea I'm pondering is a foot pedal switch mounted near the top of the dead pedal....

Here's a short video showing how the switches work

Right Click Save As

Note: The compressor didn't turn on when I hit the power switch because the tank was already full from a previous cycle....

Thats EXACTLY what I was trying to avoid with my install....I wanted mine to be a simple, clean and stealthy as possible. No big red switches on mine....just a small black button most people would never notice. Its cool on that van where the horn is the central theme of the car, but certainly not the look I was going for with mine.

Well, the switches can be easily hidden in an ashtray or glovebox, but I posted it to show how it can be wired to the stock horn button

One thing I didn't want was having to hunt for a hidden button during a panic situation :o

Quick question about your compressor install....

Did you install an accessory switch between the ignition and compressor or did you just wire it directly to an ignition source?

I have the power source for the compressor ran straight from the battery. Its fused right at the battery...then it runs into a relay thats ignition controlled then runs to the pressure switch then to the compressor. The relay really takes the place of your switch except I can't just turn it off from the cab. If I needed to turn it off I could pop the hood and pull the fuse very easily.
