Dummy Pedal...

Does anyone know where I can get a "dummy pedal" for my '04 F150? I am looking for something to rest my left foot on during long trips. Thanks in advance!

I was going to suggest you already have one, just use your headreast.

You shorties have problems don't you.

I put a dead pedal in my truck.
Oh, by the way, bluejay432000, at 6' 3'' I suspect I'm taller than you... Tall guys need the dead pedal because we run the seat all the way back, and recline it just a little to be comfortable.

Anyway, I picked up a Mustang dead pedal. 5 bucks, had to drill two holes but it took less than twenty minutes.
I suggest you 'mock' it in place with wadded up tape or something under it till it fits just where you want. I had to adjust mine till it was just what I wanted.

It really helps on the long highway trips.

Yep, you have me by one inch, I am 6'2". On a trip, I usually put it on cruise, put my right foot on the transmission hump and can drive with my left foot, or right foot as needed.

After driving stick for a long time it took me some time to feel comfortable, never thought of a dummy pedal, but I did get use to it.

First week of driving an auto after years of driving a manual I came up on a fast turning red light. I slammed my left foot down looking for the clutch that was no longer there and pounded my foot into the floorboard. That was a half-a-second of ‘WTF?’ and the rest of the day calling myself an idiot.

Even after I got used to not moving my left foot around, I still sometimes found myself with my left hand on the wheel and my right hand grabbing air where the phantom stickshift should be.

Chris, does it interfere with the E-brake? Any pics?

Too cold for my photographer today... it does not interfere.

Here is a link to the guy that first did it, and his picture of it.

If it gets warmer I will get a picture.
To see the screws that hold it you have to put your head down by the gas pedal.
I used black allen heads on my pedal.

That looks perfect, exactly what I want. I'd have to take a closer look at mine but I don't think the installation would be that different for a '99.
Thanks Chris.

WOW - you guys are right on....I've often missed the dead pedal on my '05 Lariat - everytime I switch back to it from my '05 Stang (MTX) my left foot is looking for the "Phantom" pedal. JJ I think you answered my question - the pedal shown is from the 94 - 98 mustangs - right?

thx
