I had chrome as well - you can install painted bumper covers - or you can purchase the front and rear Ford bumper already painted - not sure of the math for which way is cheaper, but I am around $750 for covers, prep, paint, and install.

You sure can. I had a 90 chevy p/u with a front chrome bumper. I had a body shop sandblast, prime, and paint it.

you can sandblast it and paint it, the bumpers do not come prepainted from ford, they are PTM

I drilled down on www.FordParts.com and found the front bumper with fog lights painted for $277.50. Perhaps it is possible to get them shipped painted, etc. Sure we be a lot easier. You might even be able to sell someone your chromes.

The drill down for the part, I went to 2005 Ford "pickup" ...

----Bumper
