Just wondering if there's been any of these new trucks successfully stolen yet? I haven't heard of any so far.

in Canada the F250 and F350 are the most expensive truck too insure due to rate of theft, number one and purchass cost...The F-150 is not even on the list, two to one I bet the F-150 out sells othier ford prouducts, so some one will rip steal one

I'm glad I bought the F150, I don't have full coverage and I'm worried about theft. The only people who are at risk are those who lock their keys in their car and use the keypad to get back in. I never make a habit of that.

I've never heard of any thefts of whole trucks, but I have heard of tailgates being stolen.

the 1997 F150 was number 6 on the most stolen vehicles of 2004, but I can't find any cases of an 04-06 F150 being stolen. Maybe their just to new to have any statistics on them yet

Yes folks this is my first post on this forum. I purchased this truck over the summer. I put on about 1500 miles for three months before it was stolen from my house. Luckily, the police found the truck and is being repaired. While I am waiting for the truck to be fixed, due sometime next week, I have purchased OEM mud flaps, OEM running boards, tow hitch cover, floor mats, appoinment for tints, HID conversion kit, turn signals, LEDlight bulbs, Valentine 1 radar (stolen, so I had to buy a new one), and Putco door sill protectors, and K&N drop in filter.

p.s.- I been researching about CAI, and i found that no one is really satisfied with the K&Nintake. What about Superchips? I am not familiar with trucks since this is my first truck.

Wow, you should get the truck back as soon as possible since even with gas prices the way they are it is cheeper to keep you behind the wheel.

There are at least five ways.
I am not going to post two of them in an open forum, but the low tech ways are pretty easy to figure out.
One is to pull it away with a cheap wrecker.
I know a guy that stole cars for ten years or more locally doing that. He got caught several times. Even did six months in jail...
He says he stole over a thousand cars that way. I have know him since he was a kid. He was stealing cars while in junior high. I think he is reformed... Maybe.

A common way to steal cars for kids is to look for 'hidden key' boxes and just use the key.

Of course lots of people just leave their keys in the truck to run in for a six pack, etc.

The other two methods require you to be able to use a pair of dykes, and understand very basic electronics.

Still, the PATS is well worth having.
Chris

Good luck operating that wrecker in my neigborhood, it's too quiet to even start the winch, and if you have a diesel on this street, I am always peaking out to see what it is (so I'm probably not alone). I don't want to jinx myself either, but I think the only pheasible way of stealing my truck is to bypass the PATS system or take it while I'm at a store.

A determined thief will show up with a rollback and worry about the details at his own leisure after he gets the truck back to his shop or warehouse or whatever.

There are ways to defeat PATS, but they ain't worth talking about in a public forum.

I'm not a smart guy...so with the pats system, could you scan for a radio Frequency or dose the key have a code that has to match a code in the ignition?...If this is the case, than whats to stop a thief from conecting a box to the ignition that can break code's? Thief's can use scanners to get the RF of garage door openers...once you know how manny numbers are in the key code, you might have 70,000 codes to chose from, or dose the pats system change key codes automaticly?

The key has a specific transponder code that corresponds with the PATS transceiver in the vehicle. Depending on the vehicle, there's anywhere from approximately 18 billion to 72 trillion possible transponder codes.
