2005 F150 4x2 SuperCab XLT Styleside, 5.4 L.
I have perused the fuel economy statements that I could locate in my short time as a member of this forum. I am seriously considering purchasing a NEW 05 F150 XLT 4x2 with 5.4L engine-am concerned about fuel economy. I drive mostly rural and Interstate, not much stop and go, and a grandfatherly 70 on Interstate, no fast accelerations etc. Appreciating any and all comments. Thanks.
I have the same configuration in my SuperCab, bought new this past June, and my driving pattern generally matches yours. My MPG has varied between 10 and 19 depending on how much city traffic I have to drive. YRMV but my truck's positives far out weigh anything else.

Consider a tonneau cover. Hard or soft. Consider the 3.55 rear if you are not into hard acceleration. And add a vacuum gauge or ScanGauge so you can maximize the mileage by 'learning' the freewheel function of the Transmission.
You should be able to match the EPA estimates with your kind of driving. Mileage is a lot worse when the engine is cold, so planning your trips will also save you gas.
This truck is very frugal on the open road, and a bit of a pig around town.
