5W-20 Motorcraft. Recommended, good price, and with no worries about warranty claims.

WTF!. I get back from PepBoys (like kragen's/autozone) and walk out to my truck (I just bought 7 qts of Royal Purple and a K&N Oil filter...not sure if it's a good choice), and I go to turn the key to the run position, and I look at the gauges, and all the needles are twitching below their minimum levels, and I hear a rapid clicking, and the AirBag light is clicking on and off. I tried to start it a few times but nothing was working. I go under the hood to no avail. and I came back in and it started. The clock was reset, had to learn my habits again, still going slow as hell, etc. What the hell is going on with my truck, I've had a check engine light forever (due to the AF1 intake) but if Troyer doesn't hurry up and send my xcal2 already (been about 2 weeks now), I'll have to go out and have my error codes checked at a dealer ($$$).

Sounds like a classic bad ground at either the battery or at the IP ground. That is a green bolt by the e-brake.
Check both battery cables very carefully.

Also, Autozone will usually check your codes for free.

Is it possible that when you installed the e-fans that you made a mistake in one or more of the connections? I would surely check into that possibility..
Not a flame but you are starting to scare me a little with your "going to change the oil, hope everything goes well' statement. I assume you know how to and are refering to the problem some have had with the filter being too tight? Because if you installed the e-fans and are now nervous on changing the oil, well, maybe you do have an issue with the fan installation that is causing the trouble you mentioned with the gauges.

If before he installed the efans he removed the battery cable, that may also be something to look at. I have had techs at differents shops leave the ground loose on the battery and had similar problems. Or during the installation of the e-fans, the computer got fried!

Wow this really stinks, I'm sorry to hear it Josiah.

Side note, the past two weeks I've been getting horrid gas mileage. Maybe it's because I'm due for an oil change and it's -2 out. I've been getting roughtly 300 miles on 28 gallons. So about 11 MPG.

It's the ground cable, was a bit loose on their. I won't take credit as my buddy tightened that end up but thanks for the idea. When I went under the hood I checked the battery connections before closing it and wiggled them a bit just to make sure, I completely forgot about that. As for changing your oil, yes I know how although never had to do it. I think the e-fans were a tad bit harder

All said and done, the e-fans were a chore but not the hardest thing I've done. I believe everything is working properly, that airbag light was scaring the hell out of me, I must have started to see things but the airbag panel looked like it was popped up a little after examining it after the vehicle started...it was not a fun trip home to say the least.

After buying the Royal Purple (7 bucks a quart!) @ 5w-30 (I've done my research so although it's recommended I put 5w-20 in...30 won't hurt) I am hoping I made a good purchase and this stuff works. On "TRUCKS!", the tv show, the dodge they fed it in gained 24rwtq, I'll be sure to review it in the same thread I review my e-fans . I will be changing my oil tomorrow afternoon so if any of you have any tips before doing so, they will be all the more welcome.

You think 7 bucks is alot, redline is around 10bucks a quart. You pay for the best though. Another great company is BG.

Asinatra! Where were you when I was asking about the more expensive brands and what to get (cost irrelivant). Is redline a better product than Royal Purple, I can't imagine a much bigger improvement on oil alone.
