I have the 275/65/18 BF Goodrich rugged trail A/T's on my FX4. Does anyone here also have these tires? And if so, do you get any tires noise that sounds like a high pitch whine at speeds 45 and greater?
My post a couple of weeks ago about the billet grille, thinking the noise may be coming from it....well, don't think that is it.
Took the truck in to the dealer, service rider suspected a passenger side front outer hub bearing.
They replaced it yesterday with a complete hub and backing plate. Bad news for me, it did nothing to stop the whining noise.
Service department says it can not be the gears in the front drive line as the noise does not quit when I release the gas pedal and take the load off.
The whine stays the same tone when changing from concrete to asphalt. So that is why I did not suspect the tires. But now I am desperate.
Anyone? PLEASE.

I have the same front end whine. It's definitely not an axle moan like I had when the ring and pinion was replaced. I haven't been able to pin point it either. I rode in the back and it's definitely coming from the front end. I'll keep looking and will post if I find something.
Front drive line trouble
This gets worse, more on that in a moment.
The truck is now back at the service dept. Over the weekend I took it by a personal friend whom is known as the best front drive line guy around. He drove and listened and suggested the whining could be caused by the carrier bearing. For sure not tires or ring and pinion gear.
Now the front drive line has a growl to it, and, when put in 4hi or low and take it back out it takes it 10 to 15 seconds before it attempts to disengage and then sounds terrible, alot of grinding and banging noises. I showed this to the Customer Relations Manager Friday evening and he concurs it is terrible. My friends suggest the motor that operates this function on the transfer case (had no clue as to what he was referring to,maybe in conjuction with the transfer case) needs replaced and some kind of adjustment some where as the front drive shaft has way,way too much play in it. Anyone know what the adjustment is?
This truck had 6200 miles when I got it on Nov 3rd, now has 7700. I should of known better than to by a dealer demo.
Now I as ready to puke as I have a truck with serious issues.
I traded a perfect 97 4x4 Suburban and 25K for this FX4 and should not have to have the issues I have had with this truck (replaced cam phasers, knocking bad, fuel injectors as they were really noisy and now all the front drive problems). I now want out of the truck but I know that won't happen. Got to go thru all the BS with lemon laws and the such.......Now who's whining

I'm skeptical with the dealer I bought and have now taken my truck to for an oil change. I was dead set on a red FX4 until they told me it was a demo truck for the sales manager.
