who has a remote starter
who has a remote starter
I am looking for a remote starter. The only thing is I dont have any power options, so I dont want more than one button on the transmitter. So far everywhere I have looked has had key fobs/transmitters with 4 to 5 buttons. I am looking for a 1 button transmitter(I am very ****), I saw one before I just cant remember where, it had great reviews and it was very clean and simple. Can anyone help me out, I am freezing my butt off every morning @ 5AM sitting in my truck waiting for it to warm up.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Do a search in your area for somebody who installs "My Valet" remote starters, made by DEI. They used to make a model 711T, probably have a newer version by now, that uses a two button reomote.
FWIW, you need at least two buttons, because as a safety measure, the starter manufacture wants you to have to purposely push two buttons...if the vehicle started with just one button push, it might accidentally go into start mode when something in a pocket/purse went up against the remote face.

That isn't necesarily true......I have a remote start on my car, and it has one button for start, one to trigger the lights and 2 for locking. You just had to hold the start button down for a few seconds, but it was only one button controlling that.

I have a remote starter on my new F150. The dealer put it in, but it is an Ultrastart brand. Remote has 4 buttons, and only one needs to be pressed momentarily to start. Two are for the locks, and the 4th isn't hooked up to anything (don't think so anyway), but it would/could be the trunk release on a car. I wonder if it could
I had almost the exact same starter on my Dodge that I traded in, and it DID start once in a while when I didn't want it to jsut from my keys folding over in my pocket and hitting the right button. I would always put the keys on my workbench when working on the truck because I was afraid that if they were in my pocket while I was leaning over the engine compartment, it might start on me. That would be BAD if I were changing the belt at the time.
For what it's worth, the new Ultrastart on my Ford has much stiffer buttons, and I suspect it won't start accidentally as easily.

I bought a $20.00 cheetah starter off ebay, has 3 buttons, but start button is larger and centered. Go to the bulldog security site and they have excellent wiring diagrams to cross reference and if you have a bit of mechanical and electrical inclination any starter should work to start your truck only. The dealer wanted $400.00 for the starter, I paid $20. and only took 1.5 hrs. to install and I also have electric locks.
