How bout ceramic pad updates

I was hoping those of you that changed over to ceramic brake pads and have had them on for a year or so would give an update, ie. longevity, stopping power etc. Maybe even an update on the carbon kevlar from porterfield. I have read these posts till I can't read anymore. Too many of the posts were from people that had just put them on.
Thanks.

I know you said a year or more, but you'll want to take Morse ceramics off the list. 2500 miles later (replaced OEMs at 900 miles) they're complete crap. Same dust issues as stock after one or two days of driving. No better stopping. Only bright spot is no squealing. I'm also interested in some long term reviews of better pads, come spring these Morse pads are going back to the manufacturer with pics of black wheels.

Well my Porterfield carbon kevlar pads (front and rear) have been on for about 7 months and 8000 miles now and they are still great. Absoloutely no dust, no squealing, and no rotor damage. The stopping power feels as good as or better than stock and I couldn't be happier.

I've had the front Porterfields for about 15k miles now and no problems at all, no more dust.

My rear pads are still stock and are not dusting, but are almost worn down after 16k miles. I'm going to buy some Porterfields for the rear soon.

Where do I get them and what part numbers (for front and back)?

I had my pads put on (worst mistake) by a brake shop and they used some sort of pads with the word "Eagle" in them or something to that effect. They absolutely SUCK. No improvement from brakedust at all, I am so disappointed, I was completely ripped off on the price and I still have brakedust. They were quite nice, how deceiving. They warned me not to go another week without replacing the back rotors and pads or my calipers could get damaged, it's been a month and a 1/2, I still have squealing brakes too, I feel so let down. I will go there to find out what pads they put on if anyone is interested. They are quoting me $400 for the rear rotors and pads, thats including labor, so it's the out the door price, to put the front ceramics on I think it was $190. Please give me some quotes on how much it would cost to get the tools to take my pads off, as well as the pads themselves from porterfield for the front and rear.

I also used the Advance "Friction Masters" (I think that's what they're called) all the way around on my 05 about 11000 miles ago. So far, they've been perfect. Barely noticeable dust, no pulsing, stops on a dime (just ask the deer that ran out in front of me earlier this week ), and all four rotors look the same as the day I installed the pads.

I need to mention though that I do a TON of highway driving, so my brakes probably don't get the workout that a normal daily driver would see.

IMO, save some cash and get the Advance ones. I couldn't be happier with mine.

right here www.porterfield-brakes.com Tell them you saw them on F150online and you get a little discount. I'm sorry but I don't remember the part #'s. Do a search and they will come up though.

As far as tools needed to replace pads, I think the wrench is an 11 metric, or a sockett. Then you need a C-clamp to squeeze the caliper. Some alcohol to clean the rotors and some vibration dampner unless your pads have it already as mine did. I used the Wagner Thermo Quiet and I really like them. If I go three weeks between washes, I get a small amount of dust, but I seldom go that long. They are quiet and stop great. They are a higher quality of the same type pad as the orignal, they are a semi-metallic pad.

If you are that unhappy with your pads and work then I wouldn't be taking my truck back to the same shop. the pads cost about 100 bucks from portfields they have very good customer service. to replace the pads only takes about 30 min per tire. all you need is some sockets, c clamp, flat head screw driver. there is a thread about changing the pads already just do a search

I agree about not going back, but after that experience I'd rather do it myself, was wondering if the rotors were easy to install.

About 7 months and 10k miles ago, I put Napa ceramic pads on the front of my 04. The only problem I ran into was needing replacement guides from the dealership...someone forgot to pack mine, and I didn't want to wait 48 hours to reorder...after 7 months, I have very little brake dust, and performance is as expected...no fade, pulsing, etc.

As a matter of fact, I'll be putting ceramics all the way around on my wife's Explorer next week...

Hope this helps...
