2007 changes?

It may be a bit early, but aside from the rumors I have seen in searching on here about a deisel engine and a 6.2 V8 gas engine possible for 07, does anyone have any info on any other changes? I know this is not a major redesign year, but I am still hoping for some side airbags... any chance of this before a major redesign year?

Jeff

An unpainted version of the LT handle will probably be available... hehehe... that's what I'm waiting on.

I doubt there will be any powertrain changes, with the body style only being three years old. Whatever changes are made will most likely be option packages and trim, maybe another color or two.

Do you mean black plastic bucket, chrome handle? If so, that's already available in the "chrome package" for XLT's and Lariats in '06.

Tire pressure monitors will be required by Feds, and I also heard rumors about a built in navigation system, like the one in the Explorer.

I've heard the navi rumor as well, at least in the Mark LT

So what's the point of those? Wouldn't that pretty much look just like what the trucks have now? Just without the texture. I assume by unpainted you just mean black/primered?

Probably less sanding to do (especially to the bucket) to paint the whole handle black. I think RP was plotting something like this months ago. I'm kinda half assedly thinking about doing body colored handles since by truck is two tone, I think the black/chrome on the LT handles would look out of place.

Precisely.

I don't want to go down the 'sanding' road because I already tried that on my tailgate handle and, honestly, it didn't turn out very well.

I could order the black LT handles and just have the 'handle' portion painted but I'd rather not deal with disassembling the handle to get a handle painted...

Obviously, this one isn't burning a hole in my mod pocket so, I'll try to be patient and wait.

Like Quintin said, I'm just not ultra-keen on a 'two-tone' with the chrome handles... a monotone is fine... two-tone, I don't like it as much.

Back to the regularly scheduled 2007 thread... sorry.

Hmmm... no mention of any side airbag rumors... I guess since most trucks are not family cars it is not as much of a priority for Ford... but seems like all competitors have them as at least an option...

Has it been confirmed that the 6.2 will not appear in 07? I read a lot about Ford being underpowered compared to Dodge/Chevy... is the 6.2 ready yet or still in development?

A friend of mine who works at ford stated to me there "should" if all goes as planned be a smaller v8 or larger v6 powerstroke. he said its gonna sound just like the 6.0 but with less power. I say just wedge a 6.0 into it. chevy and dodge do why can't ford.

I was going to sell my '02 F-150 Lariat(FX4 optioned) 4X4 this fall and get a new '06 F-150. After seeing the only "significant" change being round fog lights and no power increase for the 5.4, I decided to wait for the '07 based on the following. With the new/redesigned '07 Chevy due out possibly as a mid year model(remember the Feb. 1996 introduction of the '97 F-150), Ford will definately have make some real changes to the '07 F-150. I say we will see more HP from the 5.4 or a larger 6.0, fresh interiors, and hopefully a Lariat with Grey(not Black) leather interior with a Silver Metallic/Dark Shadow Grey exterior. Or at least I hope Ford will offer the MessageCenter/Trip Computer as an option to the FX4 as they just did by offering the Luxury Option Package (86F) to the FX4--- then I can order a Lariat equipped FX4!!!!!
