I just cleaned mine after they sat for two weeks with road salt. They were fine. (Just used water and a rag)

Unfortunately, the misconception is that Stainless Steal is invinsible since it does not "rust". However, stainless indeed susceptible to corroding and pitting. Chrome on the other hand has a coating, the thickness depends on the quality of the chrome, but is susceptible to rust if not cleaned regularly. The way to maintain either is to simply keep them clean using a wet rag and dry. No wax, no silicone based poishes, nothing. This is of course unless you like yellow-brownish SS tips becuase the silicone will burn off leaving behind a stain.

yep Devin, it's a pain to keep them clean in winter. I would consider un-bolting the tips for winter time. I can't on my side exhaust though...

Acutally, I think they are thought to be "invincible" : (n-vns-bl) adj. Incapable of being overcome or defeated; unconquerable.

as opposed to "invisible" (n-vz-bl) adj.

1. Impossible to see; not visible: Air is invisible.
2. Not accessible to view; hidden: mountain peaks invisible in the fog.
3. Not easily noticed or detected; inconspicuous: “The poor are politically invisible” (Michael Harrington).
4. Not published in financial statements: an invisible asset.

and I won't even comment on stainless steal as opposed to the more practical stainless steel

but you knew that...j/k

Actually, if you look at where you quoted me, I wrote invinsible not invisible, still wrong either way, I put an "s" where there should have been a "c". Spelling was never my strong point, that’s why I’m an engineer not an English major. But thanks to people with as much time on their hands as you, we can afford to have a few spelling errors. Thank God for spell check, I'll make sure to copy and paste everything posted from now.
