Release Date for Screw 6.5 ?

Anybody have an updated release date for the 6.5 bed on the Screw?
Looking to trade my reg. cab 8' bed and I think the 6.5 would work better for me. Thanks...

The 2006 Ford F150 brochere (sp) states the 6.5 bed will be availible late winter 2006. Hope that helps.

I don't understand what's taking so long to get it out. Aren't they just bolting a longer bed on to the existing frame, or are they using a new one? Hell, you could probably make one yourself by going to a salvage yard, assuming all the holes line up.

From what I've gathered it's a totally different frame. Wheelbase is 6" longer than the reg. cab 8' and six inches shorter than the supercab 8'. The new wheelbase is 150.5, versus 126, 132, 138, 144, 163 for the existing models.
So, hopefully we'll see it soon....

Rich04F150, you can order the Screw w/6.5' box now. I ordered mine on 11/9. I have not gotten the VIN yet, but I am guessing I will get the truck in January.

Anybody seen a pic of a screw with stepside? In the brochure I saw yesterday it said that both styles would be available. Seems like it might look kinda cool.

What brochure is this? The 2006 F150 brochure available at the dealer?

Do you really think the extra foot over the 5.5' bed will make that big of a difference for your uses? I was debating on holding out for the 6.5' bed, but rationalized that a bed extender would give me the equivalent length. Plus it's hard enough getting my SCrew into parking places as it is - the added length would make it that much harder

Well, it seems lately that the things I've been buying have been 6ft long... 6 inches makes a world of difference.....

I would be very interested in this combination. Very much so. Can anyone confirm this possibility?

Bump!

I'd really like to see this config too. I noticed the same info on the 06 brochure and have been searching a pic ever since...

The black truck shown in the new 2006 brochure with the chrome package is a 6-1/2' bed. Most would never notice it unless you pay particular attention to the distance from the front of the box to the front of the wheel well lip. And didn't someone mention above it was six inches? The current bed is 5-1/2' going to 6-1/2' - obviously 12". It's really too bad it's not going to 6'-9" like the other standard shortbeds. At least then you can get an 8'-0" 2X4 in kiddy corner. And yes, three inches DOES make a difference.

The 6" reference courtesy of Krohbar: "Well, it seems lately that the things I've been buying have been 6ft long... 6 inches makes a world of difference.....

His point was that the extra 6 inches of space from the 6.5" bed makes a difference, vs. having things hang over the tailgate.

Of course, someone would notice it if they read the description of the truck in the bottom right hand corner of the page... The picture I'm looking for is the SCREW in stepside config.

Thats the way I feel. I love the bed extender, I pull the ATV in the bed and my cooler full of brew sits in the gap on the tailgate.
