4.6L cold start noise

I noticed here lately...when my truck sits for a few days now that its colder...when i start it...the engine makes a loud noise...like the oil isn't getting pumped soon enough. It only does this for a second and I use the ford oil recommended. What do you all think?

You're using an FL820S filter as well, right?

It's difficult to say whether it's normal or not without hearing it, but you're using the right filter and oil, I'd just keep an eye on it and see if it becomes any worse.

I suspect Quintin is, of course, right, but I wonder if you shouldn't do an oil filter change. Any filter can be defective, and the Motorcraft is built to retail for under three dollars...
If it was mine, I think I would be willing to pay the three bucks to test the theory.

My old 97 4.6L also used to make a nasty screech when starting first thing in the morning in sub freezing weather. In this case, it was just the A/C clutch.
