EBAY leather seatcovers installed in SCREW..NEED HELP

Have the front seats completed...Need to know how to get the rear upper and lower seat out of a Screw...Not sure if Scab is the same...Have seen others talk about 55 torx bolts in the Scab...but my screw has size 50 torx bolts.

Need step by step instructions...

Thanks,

Brian

Not trying to be harsh but did you try searching. This thread was maybe 6 down from your post.

I took out the lower parts of the back seat before I took out the back rest for the back seat. This is for the 2 sections of the lower seat, First remove the plastic cover over the pivot point between the two lower seat parts. It just pops straight up and off. Then I removed the the small plastic cover on the sides of the seat bottoms ( phillips head screw ) and then remove the two size 50 torx screws. Then I just lifted the ends a few inches ( enough to clear the seat mount and lever ) and wiggled it back and forth and it slid off. The shorter side of the lower sit is a bit more difficult just because it's shorter, but it came off in the same manner. There is about a 2 inch metal dowel that the seat slides onto to pivot where the two seat sections come together. I asked on here and was told there was an E clip or something holding the two seat parts to the pivot point. I looked and looked and couldn't find it, probably because it wasn't there. At least not on mine.

The back rest for the back seat has been covered quite a few times and I surely couldn't explain it any better than it already has been. I did find the pictures that Oxlander has in his gallery to be very helpful in locating the clips for the back rest. I just did my seats this past week end.

jocacliff...no offense taken..I have read 2 to threads about the ebay seats many times. Ox's was a Scab and I wasn't sure if his was different than mine...One reason is he said the seat was held in with T55 bolts....Mine uses T50....I was just trying to get some clarification. I tried PM'ing folks that have the Screws but everyone has their PM turned off. That is why I started a different thread...Your truck looks great!!

Thanks,

Brian

GB...was there a trick to get them out....I can't reach the clips with my hand..(to big)...It sure feels like something else would be holding to the cab..It seems very sturdy up top if you pull on it....

Thanks,

Brian....

Nope, no tricks. I had to take out the lower part of the seats before I could get the back rest off. I couldn't get my hands back there either. It was easier w/ the lowers off. I just felt around back there until I felt what felt like the clip that was pictured in Oxlanders pictures. Just squeeze the tab toward the back of the truck and lift up, then do it on the other side. Those two clips are all that hold it down. Good luck. BTW, are you doing the black covers or tan?

Do a quick search on rear seat removal. There are a ton of threads on the trick to removing the rear back. Here's a gallery you'll need to take a look at:

BTW - GB150 - Did you steal my truck and put new wheels on it? Nice lookin' truck man.

to reach the clips, I removed the side trim back there where the seat belts are. The is something holding it on top. 2 bolts in the middle seat belt housing. Once those and the clips are undone it will lift out of the holders up top.

All i did was take the plastic trim off the sides of the cab, reach my hand in and undo the clips

No offense fellas, but you're making this a lot more complicated than it needs to be. See if this makes more sense:

Position a long, flatblade screwdriver exactly as shown in the image. You'll feel the screwdriver ride over the backrest support bar, and go through the access hole. Once you hit the plastic clip, the most important part is to pull DOWN on the backrest as you push the screwdriver against the clip. Once the clip is released, the backrest will pull up.

Another thing to note is that image doesn't show the backrest seat cushion. Once the screwdriver is in between the bottom and top sections (where the child latch is), it takes a pretty fair amount of pulling upward to get the tip over the support bar. That's why you need to pull down on the seat when you try to release the clip. Otherwise, the force you place upward trying to get the screwdriver in will not allow the clip to release.

Hope this doesn't add any confusion to the mix.

ericd...thanks for the link to the gallery. I had only seen pics of one from a supercab and it didn't get as detailed as the link you supplied..At least I have a visual of what I need to do no.....funny thing is..I have already done the bottoms...Don't need to remove the back upper to do them...Will try today...Took the upper to upholster to get the center stiched in...Only charging me $50...Hope it looks good for that price...

Thanks to all who has helped me out....

Eric...The link you provided for the pictures we GREAT ...showed me the correct position to put the screw driver...popped out the back in less than 10 minutes by myself..I understand pictures better than words

BigDave....Thanks for instructing me on how to remove the lowers without have to remove the top first....

I will be picking up the back from the upholstery shop Saturday...I have already put the bottoms back in...I am assuming I can but the back in without having to take out the bottoms again...Is that correct?

Thanks to all...

Brian

Glad it worked out pretty easy for ya.

Yep - The backrest will go in just fine with the bottoms in place.
