My new oil filter setup

Just finished gathering my pieces and installing my oil filter relocator kit on my 04 Screw. This kit allows the use of dual filters and now my truck takes 9qts of oil!!!! I now have Super filtration!!!! The oil filter mount is all billet aluminum and the piece that bolts to the engine and replaces the factory filter is all billet as well.... not the crappy cast pieces that crack and leak over time. Oil is 0w-30 Amsoil.

Now i wont have to change my oil for a pretty long time. I will just be sending in oil samples every so often to see how my engine and oil are doing.

Cool mod. One concern I would have is now the filters are outside of the front crossmember that they could be more susceptible to puncture.

Where did you get the parts from? What type of filter does it take? Will it accept the FL820S? Thanks.

I also was worried about it being up in front of the cross member... but i figured that if I hit something that would puncture them, then my truck would not be worth driving anyways.... I had a somewhat similar setup on my supercharged explorer and I ended up mounting it in almost the same location... zero problems in 100K miles. I just like it there since its simple to get to, filters are vertical, and the hoses are short. I have E-fans so I have plenty of space and was thinking of making a custom bracket that bolted to the cross member but decided not to.

I am an amsoil dealer so I got the main filter mount (billet aluminum) and filters from myself. The piece that bolts onto the engine and replaces the factory filter (all billet) is custom made by my friend and available through me. My friend is a machinist and builds these mostly for the powerstroke/cummins guys but threaded this one to meet my needs. Its all billet and allows you to put the "out" line where ever before tightening the center bolt unlike the cast aluminum pieces that all kits come with. these crack over time and are a pain to install the fittings on........... and the hoses and fitting were purchased at a local fitting dealer. The fitting and hose are made by aeroquip.

what exactly in an FL820S filter? is this the factory ford filter?
No.... it now takes a chevy filter I believe... would have to check in my book. This is also a longer filter that will hold more oil. I opted for the dual filters (one is a by-pass)... single filter relocators are also available which would allow for a larger filter to be used and relocated to your choice.

Nice setup. I've been thinking about doing the same thing since I hate where they've located the filters on the new 2004+ trucks.

Put your cursor on the X, right click, and select show pictures.

If that doesn't work, just enjoy the X.

When you remove that rediculously large fan shroud, you will have easy (and I mean easy) access to the oil filter and much more. You have to remove the shroud when you install electric fans, so I suggest you get electric fans and not just expose the mechanical fan.

I have dual electric fans... my reason for this mod was filtration... and vertical filters so it doesnt make a mess when my filters are changed.

i would have to talk to my friend and see what he charges for the billet piece or if its included.... or if you want just the standard kit.... i sent you a PM
