Thumbs down Hangook Front tires feathering

Well I was inspecting the tires on the truck and noticed the front tires are feathered horribly, raised heel lowered toe. You can run your hand across the tire and barely get your hand across due to the raised heel(sharp edges). I keep the tires inflated to 38psi which is what is on the door and they only have 6000 miles!! These are the Hangook POS's, are these covered under warranty? I have been debating putting on new A/T tires but dont want to ruin them due to defective/out of adjustment suspension. Any ideas what I should tell the stealership and have any amo for me? I was just there last night lol for rough idle which they said they fixed but didn't.

They should be covered under warranty. Check your owners manual. Mine had the tire warranty in there. My Hankook's had 20,000 miles when I replaced them and they were fine. They are not very good tires so see if they will upgrade you to another brand and cut you a deal. Otherwise, just get a new set. Have them check your alignment and shocks while there working on it. Probably just defective tires. Good luck...

Well they replaced the two front tires and realigned the front end under warranty. They would not work with me too well on upgrading the tires, oh well, I will be replacing them myself here very soon.

I had a rental F150 with exactly the same tires/problems not too terribly long ago. I can't say, however, that they were taken care of like yours sound like they were...

It was, afterall, a rental...

There's a TSB floating around, although I think it applies to early build '04s, about Hankooks and some Generals/Continentals wearing unevenly. Supposed to replace the effected tires, maybe the upper control arms, and align the truck.

My truck only has 3000 miles and the tires are feathered! The truck is at the dealer now for this and other vibration issues. They say they fixed the vibration but there is a Special Service Message on the tire wear. As of now FMC knows there is a problem but they don't have a fix yet (IE., no new tires or alignment for me)! I'm picking up the truck this morning and will try to get a copy of the SSM. I'll post later with more specifics.

Well when I went to pick up the truck they tried to charge me $375 for the alignment and new tires, but I told them the manager said it was under warranty because it was an 05 and under 12k miles(although I was thinking about the extended tire warranty but dont have proof). The manager had already left so they told me to take the truck, but they didnt give me a receipt or documentation. I asked for it but they said they were not able to give it to me and come back another day to get some documentation. I like to document everything that is done to my truck for liability reasons.

From what I understand, the Ford alignment specs cause the feathering. My old truck did it after being aligned, and you have to actually take it out of Ford specs to fix the feathering problem. As far as upper control arms, I have no idea, I do know that I have an 05 and didnt figure the control arm replacement applied to me. I just dont want to get a good set of A/T tires and have them feathered due to something out of alignment so thats why Im trying to get it figured out now. Thx.
