Trouble with warm starts

My truck starts fine when it's cold but if I try to start it 20-45 minutes after I have shut it off the engine just turns over and it doesn't start. Like it's not getting gas. I have to turn the key off, wait a few seconds and try again and repeat this until it starts. It only does this about 25% of the time so I don't want to take it to the dealership yet because it probably won't happen there. Anyway is this a common problem with 2005 5.4's or I am just lucky?
thanks.
I searched and found some threads about the engine just clicking and not turning over so my problem appears to be different.
