Intake & Exhaust Install

Well...I know this is my first post so I thought I would share some info on my latest (and only) mods.

I'm starting with an '05 Supercrew Short Bed FX4. I love this truck and it recently replaced my Reg Cab '04 FX4. I decided to install the Magnaflow SISO Side-exit exhaust and the Volant Air Intake System. All-in-all, these were both very easy installs and took me about 2 1/2 hrs from start to finish.

Volant Air Intake - I'm overall happy with this install and was very straight forward. I either didn't get install instructions (or I lost them) but this was of no issue. Very few parts and very easy to put in.

Maganflow SISO Side-exit Exhaust. I don't like the instructions that came with this kit. They leave a little to be desired in the way of detail. The pic in the instructions was photocopied in B&W and very fuzzy. Also, my instructions didn't say anything about having to cut-down the intermiediate pipe, but that was easy enough. I had to remove about 7 inches of this pipe to get everything to bolt up. Other then that all I needed was hand tools to install everything. The factory exhaust was fairly easy to remove once I decided to remove the factory exhaust hangers from the vehicle. Oh...and a lift helps dramitically!

I'm very happy with the exhaust note and I think I'll enjoy it on down the road.

Now for the pics.....(OK...why can't I post pics?)

You need to set-up a gallery and post your pictures from there...

Did you feel a large performance increase with these two mods? What about the volant intake, how does it sound and did you test the truck out after each mod or after both mods were done, that way you would notice the difference in power between the two mods.

I'll be honest....I didn't notice any difference in performance. I basically did one install right after the other. I also haven't notice any additional sound coming from the intake....(some folks have claimed they hear a difference).

I'm going to wait and see if my gas mileage improves....to me that will be the test of performance/increase. I will say though that the sound of the Magnaflow was well worth the expense....

Gotta set up a gallery now.

One of the small benifits of being in the military. We have a Auto Hobby Shop here on base that has about 18 bays and about half of those have lifts.

Next time use the lift correctly by utilizing the lifting points on the lift in a proper manner.

Ummm...okay....where did I make a mistake(s)? I even asked one of the guys that oversees/works at the shop since this was the first time I lifted this vehicle.

i installed the same thing on my truck, same truck as yours... didn't have to cut any pipes.... there is a small alignment issue on the second rubber hanger, but it's in the grommet enough not to cause any problems...

I guess Magnaflow changed their kit at some point. My guess is so they could cover the different cab/bed configurations.

Yeah...I had the same thing. Kicked my butt for about 10 mins or so until I got everything lined up.
