Wonder how many years it would take to pay for the gauge with the gas saved (or maybe not) by using OD? Why not just lock out overdrive and forget it?

exactly.

its not like you're towing ALL the time.
So you spend an extra $5 in gas for this towing trip... but you also saved the $2000 tranny rebuild

Thanks

Super big thanks to all the feedback on this. It helped a lot. About 3 hours ago, I did my first tow. I hooked up my 6x12 senior citizen wagon to my F150. Made sure I had the right tongue, and no bikes in side. I got about 850 miles on the F150. So, she is not fully broke it. BTW, from the feedback, I am turning off the OD when I towing. I am towing a empty trailer, and I turned the OD off. I am picking up my commuter bike from the shop. That is a 40 mile round trip. OD will be off the whole time, and I am not going over 65 mph, at least for a while. Getting ready for a trip in 2 days. The trailer will be loaded with 2 bikes, gear, and I am carrying my youngest son too.

Picks of the F150 and senior citizen trailer coming shortly.

Don't forget that when you turn off the vehicle, you have to hit the O/D button all over again after starting her back up...
