Side exhaust....

I have a 2005 Screw and I was thinking about doing a side exhaust similar to a Gibson. I have two brand new 50 series Flowmasters and I was going to purchase the Gibson tips and have the rest fabbed up. My question is this...Will it be annoying coming out in the same location as the Gibson (right before the rear tire)? I haven't found anyone local with the same set up... I guess if I should just ride in my friend's Lightning and see how bad his sounds. The only reason I ask, is because I will have clients in my truck from time to time (real estate) and I don't want it too loud. Thanks for any input!!

Jim

I can't say for sure how loud it will be but I have a friend here at work who has the same setup with flowmasters and it's kind of loud. I have an aftermarket muffler and a stainless tip on mine in the stock location and it tends to drone a little under load. FWIW.

Search "flowmaster" in 2004-2006 F-150 = Search results

I think this will get you pointed in the right direction for your decision.

I looked at doing this as well. After talking to my local pipe bender we decided to keep the outlet behind the rear wheel. This was because of where the rear leaf spring mount sits. He would have had to run the outlet underneath the shackle and that put it too low for my taste. I was also concerned about exhaust fumes getting inside while idling with the back windows down.

Thanks for the replies!! I think I'll just buy those same tips, but run them behind the rear tires instead.

I got the Magnaflow dual side exit in front of rear tires and it can be somewhat loud at times. But I when I go out to lunch with my co-workers, I don't hear them complaining about the exhaust being too loud.
