Ol' Blue ...pics

Well it sure has taken quite awhile to get the setup I wanted, but finally I made it. I picked up my '05 XLT Super Cab Long Bed back in August. The stock setup was rather quite pathetic and so I really wanted to make some adjustments. The thing is I purchased the heavy duty F150...7-lug F250 setup so no one would put any sort of lift kit on it and I couldn't find any cusomter wheel manufacturers that would drill to my specs.

I finally found a shop that would attempt the Fabtech 6" lift...it fit like a glove. Also, Alba wheels said they had two models of wheels they would drill. So finally, after nearly 4 months of searching I had everything. I also purchased a new grill and Ford running boards. The one piece that I have left to install is the fender flares, just the standard FX4 trim. So here are a few pictures of Ol' Blue. I hope you like them.

The first one shows the truck just after I had the 6" lift installed, but before anything else. You can check out the gallery for a few other shots. Hopefully I'll have a nicer day to take some better pictures here soon.

Do you have to have a permit to drive that thing,J/K

Actually, it looks really good lifted. The length gives it a mean real "TRUCK" look that I really like. Kudos, on doing something that wasn't so ordinary.

edit: That rig has got to be smooth, give us some driving impressions with that setup.

Wow! That looks awesome! Are the tires 35's? They really fill the wheel well.

Nevermind...I just read in your gallery that they are "37" Open Country M/T tires, 22" Alba Flex wheels" and they look great!

Hey Electric,

That is one of the best looking lifted trucks I have seen in a long time, great work.

One question. I know that this must have been the heavy duty package with those stock steel wheels, so what exactly did you do to get those wheels in a 7-lug pattern? If everyone remembers, there was a guy that went to get his truck, but refused to take delivery because of this problem. Actually, he did not do his homework. Thanks, and looks great!

Hey Everyone,

Thanks so much for all the great comments. This is a really great community and I appreciate everything!

Those are indeed 37"s with 22" Albas. The fit is a tab bit tight and they rub on the front lift extenders only on downhill or uphill tight turns. But the ride is actually quite smooth.

I just loved the long bed, extended look, however I too failed to do my homework when I accepted delivery. Thus it was a small surprise when I found the 7-lug setup. I called every custom wheel shop and manufacturer around and only Alba was willing to do the custom drilling. I actually really, really like the look of the wheels. They have a super deep dish and it just glides down the road. The tires are also very quiet for the tread that's on them. I also had an extremely hard time finding a shop that was willing to put a lift kit on the Heavy Duty F150, since it had never been done before. So an EXTREMELY big 'Thank You' goes out to TCS Offroad Center in Kent, WA. Those guys were the absolute most professional of any I talked to, and they actually went to all the trouble just to see if it fit...no charge. They said if it fits we'll put it on, otherwise no harm done. And sure enough the kit fit perfectly.

So all in all I am extremely pleased with everything. The last bit of trim I have yet to put on is a set of black Ford fender flares (standard equipment on everything but the XLT it seems ) but I have my set and am just waiting for the weekend.

I'll post some higher quality pics when I get a sunny day here in Seattle. If anyone see's Ol' Blue cruising, be sure and send a wave.

Thats a BIG truck right there.

I like it man.

I have to ask though, I considered a HD150 but no one had one close by when I got mine. How much diffrent, if at all does it ride from a normal 150?

Honestly I couldn't tell a difference, though it was a little loose at first...back when it was stock. I think that once I had a decent load it would ride like butter. And it also took me about 4-5 weeks to find a HD Longbed around here. Absolutely nobody had one, though I finally found once across the Sound.

However, ever since I had the lift installed the ride has firmed up quite a substantial amount. So not quite as smooth any more, and with the new tires when I crawl to a stop or am moving quite slow it feels like you're driving on those turtles in the middle of the road. Now I'm not complaining, because I love the feel...but my girlfriend would say otherwise.
