Advanced Flow Engineering

I have been doing alot of research on all the different air intakes for my 5.4. I think I want to go with the Volant. I'm having my neighbor who is a diesel tech put my leveling kit and shocks on, so I'm going to have him order an intake while I'm at it. I know he's going to reccomend AFE, since that is the intake brand that he puts on alot of diesels that he hops up.

Does anyone on this website have any thing to say about AFE? I've searched about volant, but if you have something to say about it too, please do.

Thanks,

An intake is an intake. Some will perform better on different engines, buy what you like not what someone else says.

I put the Volant on my truck and three CEL's real fast. I shipped it back and went with the Airaid. Our trucks are equipped with a MAF that adjusts very little. As such, the after market intake Mfgs have struggled with this.

Oops. Typo. That is threw CEL's - Bank 1 and Bank 2 too lean.

Don't know anything about the AFE, but my Volant has worked great. I believe the design was changed to eliminate the lean condition, so if you get the new style with the polished chrome lid, you should be getting the newer version. Just an FYI.

Love my Volant. Has the old style carbon fiber top and no CEL's. Very quiet until you put it to the floor. Then it gets VERY LOUD (sounds great!)
