Question OK This Gas Mileage Sucks

My gas mileage seems to keep getting worse. I'm running on the 91 Perf. tune from Troyer and ok the first couple of tanks I had my foot in it all the time so I figured the MPG would be bad. Now I'm purposely keeping my foot out of it and it's getting worse less than 12 MPG with 75% city 25" Hwy. Does anyone have any ideas that I could try? I.E. new MAF sensor, throttle body? I dont want to take it to the dealer because they just tell me I have the latest PCM calibration already. I've already changed the fuel filter. Any suggestions?

NONE

They had an article on 20/20 last night for any of you who watched it. They were talking about the fact that the Window Sticker was NOT accurate. They are still using Lab Testing from the 1970's era to compute fuel economy. This is in the middle of change supposedly. They will have a new system in place and updated stickers within the nest 2-3 years they claim.

My rig gets 12 MPG in the city with about the 75/25 percentile driving like yours. And that's an improvement over the 9-10 mpg I was getting before they reflashed.

Some of the cars listed on 20/20 were barely getting 50% of the posted fuel economy on the window sticker. Talk about STICKER SHOCK.

I get an avg of 13 mpg with 75% city and 25% highway. I don't even have heavy aftermarket tires either. I'd say you're normal. Or I've got really bad gas mileage. I don't baby it, but I definitely don't make it work hard.

The window sticker is a joke.
I still have my sticker which states 24mpg (UK gallons equivalent to 19.9mpg US), I noticed that the exact same truck as mine on a dealer lot now only says 23mpg. I have read nothing that says anything changed from 04 so WTF?
I have yet to get 20mpg on the highway no matter how nice I drive, and I have really tried to prove to myself that it will get close to sticker with no luck as of yet.

I get better mileage than that with my stock 5.4L engine on 87 octane (FX4 SCrew).

I am getting 10.6 mpg on my new 04. I was going to post about it, I get on it every now and then but I've reset the meter in the message center (lariats only) and I still only get 11.3 at best!

When I picked up the truck from Indiana, the original owner was getting 15.0 exactly, I chit you not. I wonder if altitude can play a huge role in this or not. He drove like I drive when I'm trying to better my gas mileage.

I am averaging over 15mpg (more than 5,000 miles) with mostly city driving. I have the 5.4 with superchips 87 tune.

lol, well when is the best time to reset the mpg meter (right after a fillup)?

I'll go fillup right now for fun and see what I get by the end of today. I go through gas like my gf goes through underwear driving with me.

I get 16-17 daily driving, mostly city some highway and I've gotten over 22 on a recent road trip. I am quite pleased as I am getting slightly better than window sticker on my '05 SCAB 5.4 / 3.55. I see alot of variances here on the forum and I always wonder why the huge differences.

Come to think of it I'm not sure I have ever had a car that did not get at least sticker. My favorite is this little 5-speed Mercury Cougar I drive, its sticker is 24/34. I drive the hell out of it and get 31 in city and over 40 driving 70-75 on the highway. Granted, it is a 4 banger but it is really a fun car to rag on.

300 mile trip from NY to Mich I got around 13.6 MPG.

I was averaging around 75mph. I guess that's not too bad

I see you live in California. You may have blended gas in your area. 10% Ethanol reduces mileage by as much as a mile or two per gallon, or at least that's what one of the auto columns in the loacl news reported. I average 15 combined highway and city on my 04 RC 4.6. It as been as low as 13 (cold weather, short trip, city) and as high as 19.5 (warm weather, interstate). May be yours could benefit from the updated prom flash. Hope the milage gets better I think we are all tried of make the oil companys mega rich.
