New Billet Shifter

Looks like I may have found a company willing to take on the project of building a billet shifter for us with the center console but "producing these
in quantity would be the only way we would want to take this on." Is the interest still out there on this one. Also does anybody have one lying around that we can send to them so they can take it apart and get us some prices.

I would be interested. I know someone had some detailed photos on here showing the guts of the operation...if we can not get a real one. I will see what I can search for but I am in.

...Go to Ford and buy one for $10 bucks and then ask everyone on this thread to Donate $0.05 to the cost of the part. I'm sure you will come out ahead and $0.05 is worth it for me.

...So, would you mind buying it ahead of time and then your guy can get to work on the deal.

I think he is just talking about the shifter handle. The whole assembly is what you need right? I'd definitely be interested. There was a guy who was trying to do this a while back and ran into some legal trouble with it. You might want to do a search on the subject.

I don't think it was legal trouble as much as he was advised that there was potential for legal trouble. I found that kinda odd because everything on your truck has a potential for legal trouble so how is it any other parts are produced and marketed. It may not be a job for "the little guy"; perhaps that was a factor. This would be a big seller in my estimation. It would be a shame if someone didn't do it. I'll take two (one as a spare).

I'm interested and will more than likely buy one. I have a request though...how about changing the shape of the handle so we can get rid of the ***** shape?

Here's a picture that I haven't shared with anyone. Its a picture I just took of the parts that sit in my basement and how far I got, its the first 11 billet shifters about 85% complete, along with this is a stack of papers and design about an inch thick and a CD full of CAD files and g-code for every part in the shifter. These were parts that were cut after I had confirmation that my first prototype was fully functional. It was about years worth of work on weekends and in my free time. In this time I also became a pretty good photographer, web designer, did a little market research, and worked with a lawyer. If it isn't clear, I spent a good deal of my own time and money on this project only to decided that it was in my best interest not to pursue this project any further, maybe you will come to a different conclusion......I wish you all the best of luck.
