No Headlights until I adjust steering column....

I noticed that I did not have headlights the other day and discovered that by putting the steering column in the full upward position, my headlights come on.
When I move the steering column down (preferred driving position) my normal headlights go out.

My High Beams are fine no matter what position the steering column is in....

Anyone else heard of this problem...???

You're gonna have to take the steering wheel off and scrounge around in the column for a broken wire or connector. My old F-150's turn signals and cruise control wouldn't work when the wheel was in my normal driving position. When I tilted it up, ala bus driver, they worked. Seems that moving the wheel up and down flexes the wires to the breaking point. The break or open circuit can be in the wheel housing area, or as far down as the dash.
Good luck.

Thanks FlyerTom....

I was afraid someone might say that....

Looks like I'll be making a trip to the dealership with this one. This is beyond warranty and my expertise.

This is a common problem and i would talk to the service mgr. about it. There might be a t.s.b on it. I know that my 2001 had been repaired 3 times for the steering wheel switch, and a repair to the wiring connection at that switch..
