Need boards advise, Trade in value

Guys/Gals-
I need some advice from the minds. I really like my truck, just hate the black. I hate it to the point that I'm ready to trade it in. I'm wanting a used (solid silver-not 2toned) FX4 supercrew. Preferably with the moonroof, I'm not concerned with leather/cloth as I could always put ebay leather in if it didn't have it.. The problem is I am unable to find one in my area and it is a pain dealing with people long distance- It seams they don't realize that I am serious and they want to low ball the crap outa me on my trade.
The question is, what do you guys think my trade is worth?
2004 F150 supercrew 4x4 25k miles 5.4 trailer tow
black with black leather
spray bed liner/billet grill/6disc cd/exhaust ect.
I know that my mods really don't mean much but it is an extremely clean truck
I am going to keep my wheels.
just trying to get other opionions on what my trade is worth
Thanks in advance!
TCC-
This is a truck I would be interested in, more miles than what I want but Its the truck I'm looking for

Well this is a surprise! You got a great looking truck! I understand with the black, it's a love hate relationship with mine. When it looks good, it is, and when it looks bad, IT is. Is that the only reason? Trade in at a dealer you might be lucky and get 20-22k. Private sale maybe 25k Unfortunately the used market is over stocked with trucks and suv trades, not only from the Ford/Chevy/Dodge new truck employee giveaways, but also trade ins from high gas prices. Your best bet is to sell privately and get more money and pay the difference off in cash if you are financed and avoid a dealer trade altogether. I hate to see you lose out so much resulting from just color issues. I'd really like to see you think this through very thoroughly before you do this. I've been hasty myself in the past in this type of scenario and it bit my a$$ hard. Keep us posted and good luck!

Another guy just bought a truck exactly like yours this week for $21K. This was a private party sale, so I'd guess your trade in would be less. Truck values suck right now due to fuel costs and also the residual effect from the 'Employee Pricing' discounts that the manufacturers were pushing in the last 6 months. My truck has lost almost half it's value in the year since I bought it, and I bought it used. New would have cost me an additional $10K, with nothing to show for it except a payment receipt.

Thanks for the compliment!
It is a color thing! The last 2 trucks I had were white and I got really spoiled with them looking clean. The black needs to be clean every 3to5 days or so to look good. I am setting good as far as what I owe on the truck but the last 2 offers were 19k ( not seeing the truck, just phone/email type transaction) with dealership.. I think 21k/ real money-- not stealership math-- is fair. But I could be off, just looking for advise.
Maybe my best bet is to wait until one becomes available local and really "deal" with the dealer.

TCC,

I think your truck is in very good shape! Why don't you look into getting a new paint job. I think that is what I'd do if I were in your shoes!

If color is the SOLE reason for trading the truck I would recommend getting the truck repainted. If you look at what you are going to lose by trading plus the whole sales tax, registration, etc. you might be better off. The truck is like new so I bet all they would have to do is 'rough' it up and respray. You might even be able to save a few bucks in labor by removing some of the trim, bumpers, lights, etc. yourself. I would get a few estimates before I traded it. Good luck whatever you do.

Paint it. You would still come out cheaper than taking the trade-in hit from a dealer. Nice truck though.
