And soon he would be looking for a replacement mirror. Is it that much of an inconvience to have a bird on your truck? You can tow how much and your worried about bird droppings? If you can live with a sack over the mirrors that would be great. Maybe try parking somewhere else, get a cover or tarp, or park it in the garage.
There are other solutions besides violence. It doesnt seem like he is that type of guy or gal or he would have shot the bird already.

Thanks for all the advice, but first things first. The mirror housing and ONLY the mirror housing looked at least twice as bad as that picture somebody (Was it RockPick?) posted. The rest of the ruck was completely untouched - the bird simply did not **** anywhere else on the truck!! When I say it was disgusting, I mean it was REALLY disgusting! It was more like guano that a simple bit of bird ****. I honestly have NEVER seen anything like it!

Stuffed owl? Scared the blue jays, but the lttle bird was completely unphased!

Use a bb gun? I would in a heart beat, but I'm a lousy shot. And I'd probably have gone with a 22 short, or use my sons old 20 guage!

Park elsewhere? I'm trying that right now. It's been about 30 minutes, & no bird! I'm hoping!!!!

Fold the mirrors? I just thought of that about 15 minutes ago myself. If the parking thing doesn't work, I'll try that.

Wish me luck, all. And I hope you never ever ever have this happen to you!

Buy some glue boards (rat traps) to set on top of your mirror when you park. That way you will KNOW that you got the bird.

Two years ago a pair of birds made a nest in my carport, in a cubbyhole over my workbench. I thought it was all cute and stuff. Then last year they came back (after I bought my new truck) and crapped on the hood of my truck daily. I've been chasing those damn birds out of my carport for over a year now, and every few weeks I'll see evidence of a new nest starting and a fresh splatter on my hood. I think the season is about over, but if they come back next year I'm getting the glue boards.

Glue boards? I've never heard of those, RockyJ. But I'll try anything. The "park in a different spot" suggestion just failed. The freakin' bird found my truck again. My wife called me from the window (Again) and said "The bird is back" (Again). So I ran out (again) and chased it away (again) and washed the truck (again). I'm trying the "flip the mirror" trick now.

If that doesn't work, and the glue boards don't work, I give up! The freakin' bird has won. I'll go out & trade the 150 in for an '06 'stang GT!!!!!!! At least I can park THAT in the garage!!!

Get a cat.....tie him/her to mirror when you park...set cat on hood of truck....bird problem will soon be resolved, evidence of which will be when you see cat sitting on the ground next to truck licking its chops and wiping feathers off of face.

aim small miss small. i can understand the hesitation about shooting towards the truck though, for those of us that arent that great of a shot. i'd try the mouse trap or sticky paper for sure though. but i'd put some double sided tape on the back so he cant knock it off.

LMAO, that sounds like a great idea....waite until he lands on the mirror and then pick him of with the 20GA!!! Make sure you are standing back a good 20-30 foot too (and if you can change chokes use the open choke). Like someone else said...aim small and miss small.

Then be sure to post pics!

Maybe some C-4 with a remote detonator....Make a nice landing pad out of it on top of the mirror then go back in the house and watch...

I have skimmed this thread, so if these have been mentioned, I apologize.

Option 1 is to go to the hardware store and buy a $10.00 motion detector. I use one to keep cats off of my truck. You can set it on alarm or chime (which I use). I keep it under the front of my truck, and every time Frisky makes his approach to the front of the vehicle, it lets out a loud DING-DONG, and the cat hauls ***.

Option 2 is to find a realistic looking rubber snake and place on or near the mirror. I have used rubber snakes effectively to keep birds off of my grape vines in the past.

I feel for ya, this would drive me nuts as well!!!
