Winter weather is well on the way here in the beautifull north east. So I am taking time to bid fare well to my shiney f150 under carrage......good bye shiny black axle, hello rusty brown flakey with bubbly black paint chips axle.good bye nice state of the art aluminum controll arms and hardware, hello grey powdery controlarms and hardware that WILL be seized and will brake if i try to work on my truck in the comming spring. good bye showing my new truck to freinds, hello showing my new truck to calcium cloride as it is being sprayed in front of me,sand trucksdumping sand basicly in every wire loom and electrical connector possible so my evap will throw codes and my abs light will come on,and ahh yes ,giant clumped together rock salt taking out the paint in my fender openings,hood and everywhere. any way...I was wondering if anyone would post picks of theyre brown rusty cruddy undercarrages 04-05 f-150's to see what i have to look forward to.. I think ill call it the N.E. modd.

Used to have "winter cars": '66 Ford Falcon, '73 Chrysler New Yorker. Man that New Yorker was a behemoth, 4 in the front, 4 in the back and room for a Jacuzzi in the trunk, about 5 mpg!

 

Yepper, Going from 20'rims and 305's to 17" 285 for the winter........I really don't feel like skiing with a 5000lb truck with those fat tires! Also having the salt, sand and other crap ruining the rims.....I hate salt!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, I would think that Florida would have the same problem as us up north due to the salt water everywhere, correct? (Or no) Or doesn't it carry inland far at all?

 

I've lived on the beach (Pacific) and unless you drive into the water, which is pretty darn hard in California, salt air does very little to corrode a car/truck. 1950's era cars in Long Beach look like new.

Here you go. I take extreme care to clean everything back to normal after mudding and with snow and salt on the roads.

So if you take your wheels and tires off on every wash, and get down on your back and slide under your truck with a pressure washer with heat and some good cleaners and brushes it will stay looking new or close to it.

I would not know how to act to not have to do the under carriage clean up before washing.

It takes a good 2-3 hours for me to do the under carriage. I guess I could just give up and let it be skanky under it.

 

Nah don't do that, your truck always looks awesome (sorry lenticular). I do the same with mine but thankfully in Texas it never really gets that dirty under there.

 

I'll take cold weather over hurricanes any day...like Carlos Mencia says, "You have a good 10 days warning that a hurricane is coming. If you don't leave, you're stupid and deserve what you get!"
