AArrrgggghh!

My insert and blue oval were installed with black magic. I have been at them for a while now and no luck so far. On the oval there is even a space below the pins, but the top holds like concrete. The clips around the surround are not budging, even ones that have space (very little) on the top and bottom of them. As soon as I find a witch doctor in the phone book I will be installing my new insert.

mrmabry,

Once you take the nuts off the oval, gently pry the foot up away from the oval and it will loosen up enough to slide it out a little at a time. Alternate between the two pins until you have enough space to push the retaining foot forward and then you can hold it away from the pin and slide it the rest of the way out. Be gentle and don't force it or the pins will break. Don't ask me how I know they will break. :o Good luck.

Thanks for the help David. I'm going to eat some Manwich my wife just whipped up for strength and have a go at her again once my blood pressure settles. I'll definately try your method!

Emblem came off intact but the grill and surround are stuck together like glue. I'm guessing that bending the plastic ridges that are over the clips is a must? I'cant seem to make it budge otherwise.
That's it. Needle nose pliers to bend the tabs. Small flathead to help pry. The separation anxiety is over and nothings broken.
I am awarding myself.....
