Question Painted 2006 B-Pillars? (glossy black)

Does anyone know if the B-Pillars on the 2006's painted glossy black? If you go to Ford's website and look at some of the pictures, especially on the King Ranch shot showing the puddle mirror light... you can see it's a glossy black. I'm guessing that might be an old picture they are using or something. There is also the shot of the red STX and they look glossy there. Page 5, picture 1.. makes it hard to tell... but those don't look glossy. I'd say it's rather confusing.

I think I've seen a few pictures of reader's 2006's, but it's hard to tell for sure. I also remember reading about a guy saying he saw some 2006's at a dealership and they were painted. (sorry, can't remember the person or thread).

Anyway, any info would be fantastic! I'm still waiting on some word about my 2006 order... I get more and more excited as I read these boards.

Thanks!

That was me. Yeah 06 b pillars on all F150s should be glossy black. Then took a step back from the flat black look. The 06s I've seen in pictures and at the dealer lot have glossy b pillars.

Side note, I wouldn't order an F150 until this issue with the spark plugs siezing in the engine block and breaking off is fixed. Mainly because it's not covered by warranty, so that's $2,000 to fix/change your spark plugs.

My 06, with the chrome package has flat black B pillars. I will be doing the mod to 04 shiny black pillars, when I get time.

F150 Duke,

Is this problem specific to 2006's? I haven't read anything on it, so I don't know the details. Also, if it's a flaw in the design, why wouldn't the warranty cover it? My order has been place - just not sure how far along the order process I am. I need to call and get a status update. But, I would love to hear more about this problem you describe. I'll try to do some searching and see what I can find - but feel free to post details if you feel like it.

ford4knox and erick_e,

That's what I was afraid of... not that flat black looks bad, but the glossy black sure looks better in my opinion. I saw a white 2006 FX4 supercrew on the way to work this morning going the opposite direction, and I couldn't get a good enough look to see what his had. F150 Duke, if you come across any "stock" painted B-pillars on a 2006 in pics besides the ones on Ford's site, let me know. I'd be curious to see them. I can't imagine Ford doing both matte and painted though.... that'd be odd.

As always, thanks for the info everyone! Any other comments would be greatly appreciated.

Gibson,

Look at the top of the 04-06 forum topics. One of them is HUGE in terms of pages and talks about spark plugs. Read that and you'll understand what I'm talking about. It's not just 06s, it's all new F150 body styles with the 5.4 engine. So 04-06. There is also info about it in the Chips and Programming section. I believe that thread is titled "Hey Mike, if you have time for this" or something like that.

Hmm, odd to hear that some people have flat black b pillars on their 06s. I mean these 06s I was looking at on the lot had the circular fog lights, and even said 06 on them and had glossy b pillars...very odd.

I kinda like the matte black B-pillars better than the glossy pillars, but that's just me.

I agree; depending on the model and color. I like the matte look on the fx4's stock.

The gloss looks better when your windows are tinted all around. Keeps the lines clean.

I agree... especially on a dark colored truck.... the one exception to that though; the rubber molded seals around the windows. That is one reason that I've held off on replacing my B-pillar... I do, however, still think that the glossy would look better than flat on my black truck...

Ya, on the black like yours and on True Blue like mine I like the gloss. I was going to get my front windows tinted but missed my my tint guy the one day and have not had time since. Im sure it will look much better then with the windows all dark. Overall I am gunning for that black and blue look.
