Passenger Seat

Howdy,

I have been on this forum for a while now, but have been fairly quiet. Just bought in July and could not be happier. This site is THE authority for helpful discussion and advice. I thank everyone for their posts.

That being said, I have an 05 FX4 with "pleather" trimmed seats. The passenger seat is a little flat, meaning that it does not cradle like a bucket seat. Has anyone tried to shim the front brackets and tilt the seat back a little? I never set in it as my wife brought this to my attention. Any help appreciated.

Shim it or maybe you could convert it to power so you can lean it back.

Getting more or less back on topic, I felt the seat sat a little too flat, but I went with power seats, problem solved.

But I have read where others pulled the seat cushion (four bolts, lots of wires) pulled the cover off and added some high quality seat stuffing, sorta a firm foam rubber.

Worked for them.

You could also pull the cushion and spacer just the cushion with washers. I would be very careful about changing the angle of the whole seat for crash reasons. But just the cushion should be doable.

If you have the child seat with the airbag disconnect you can goof up the adjustment. Have not seen it happen, but it's in the service manual. Aside from that it should be fairly easy.
Good luck
Chris

Thanks for the great info, Chris. I wandered about adding a pad instead because of safety concerns. My pass. seat is not power and the child seat is in the back (Scab), so this should be much easier. Again, thanks.
