Audiophile Mod

I just won an Audiophile system on eBay, for my 05 Lariat. That was the only option I didn't get that I had wanted. The truck came with the 6 disk mp3 changer, but I wanted a little more thump. I'm one happy camper here. Woot! Woot!

hope you checked that your truck had the plugs for them, otherwise you're in for some custom wiring...

Well, thank you for not FX4&E. I got the system for near what I planned to spend. One of my coworkers offered today to take my mp3 6 disk changer for $150, so out of pocket is much less.

Yes, I checked for the wiring, I think about 2 days after I got the truck home. I'm cool there. Should be a rather simple install.

Josiah, I think that the upgrade on the 05 was $375, but I'm not sure.
Have you made up your mind yet to buy the black Lariat you found?

Congrats. I just wish I 'd read your post before I bought my s/c on e-bay. Then I could have told my wife I "won" it there.

Tomorrow or Friday I will have the money in hand, but yes I am pretty much decided. An old offer I made for a guy with a 2001 F250 (Platinum Edition) 7.3L, already lifted 10" but only on 35" tires (looks really funny), emailed me back saying he may take my offer. So I don't know, it just threw a wrench into the mix. I would of course throw new tires on their, probably 39" tires. I am just not sure! The F250 is already modded, 4" exhaust, Superchip programmer, so I don't know, what do you think I should go with. It would be a cheaper route to go with the F250, already has some work done to it. I just don't know, and that F250 is local!

Below is the truck:

Well J, there are certain advantages to buying locally, you will have a much better idea what you're really getting. I have an F250 '05 daily driver I absolutely love. ( My 150's more a play thing) You're right about those wheels. They look funny on what is otherwise a gorgeous truck.

How do you feel about the speed of the F250 compared to the F150? Do you think if I regeared the F250 I'm looking at, it will keep up with a stock 6.0L?

Do you think even though the F250 is lifted, and sitting on 35's, it would still be quick?...Quicker than a stock 5.4L 3v in the new F150?

Well, I'm running 3V 5.4s in both machines, so the power is pretty equal. Either one seems fast. I think that if you regear, you will prolly have the advantage.

Ouch, you have the 5.4L in the F250. How do you feel about it's performance compared to the diesel, have you driven a diesel?

Yeah, I had an '89 7.3 non-ps and a 2000 7.3 psd. Both were in 250s. Remember, mine were unmodified highway machines. A different animal than you want. The newer (03 I think) 6.0s embarassed me though. Their higher RPMs made quick work of my 7.3s after the initial start. I loved the diesels, but am very happy with the 5.4 now. I have an Aerotech bed on it full of test equipment and instruments. The only mods are a drop-in K&N and an opened up intake. ( Well tunes, I don't want to forget the stereo. Couldn't drive without.)
I'm subject to get a midnight call that sends me anywhere in the states, so I wanted the convienience of a gasoline engine.
I firmly believe though a 6.0psd would spank my @ss in a moment.

I think a chipped 7.3L would take a stock 6.0, it's an increase of 100+ horses, that's a large margin compared to the similar power ratings stock for stock. Maybe someone here has experience going headon with this setup or something similar.
