I noticed a difference when i initially took out the silencer, i did punch it on the freeway on ramp today with the 3" coupling....hard to tell between the two mod's...but i was very happy on how hard my truck was pulling, defineatly better than before. Seems to make alittle bit more intake noise with the coupling when i had it floored so im guessin it is sucking in more air.

Ahem ...

An aftermarket filtration system will have the most gain over removing the intake silencers, just the price you have to pay really isnt worth it in comparrison between the two. If you have the money i would opt for the aftermarket systems. Check out the link in my signature for most if not all aftermarket intake systems.

asinatra I hear ya about just doing a aftermarket intake, however I don't plan on an exhaust for quite some time, so it this method seems to be a better fit for now. Prior experiences with intakes leads me to believe it's not worth it unless you do the exhaust as well. Not ready for intake noise yet either. I already had the K&N when I heard about the silencer, so that was a no brainer, just 15 minutes of work.

Exactly why i opted for the less expensive route, ive got the K&N drop in as well as an aftermarket muffler, obviously a true "aftermarket" system would be better, but for my needs, this mod easily fits my needs.
