warn 9.5ti winch enough for supercrew?
warn 9.5ti winch enough for supercrew?
I was looking to get a reunel bumper but they only make them for warn winches. I know that the gross vehicleweight and its half should be considered minimum for a winch but they argued that you could double the line to get the winch capacity you need. since the truck is 7300lbs unloaded i was ideally looking to get a 12000lb winch but the only one that they say fits is the 9.5ti warn. Any suggestions/ recommendations? and has anyone had problems with their 9.5ti. Thanks for the info
how the heck are you coming up with 7200, i know our trucks are heavy, but damn, not that heavy, i was thinking maybe 6200 max, am i wrong here?

Gross Vehicle Weight Rating: Gross Combination Weight Rating
350. (a) "Gross vehicle weight rating" (GVWR) means the weight specified by the manufacturer as the loaded weight of a single vehicle.
Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW)
This is the Base Curb Weight plus actual Cargo Weight plus passengers. It is important to remember that GVW is not a limit or specification . . . it is the actual weight that is obtained when the fully loaded vehicle is driven onto a scale.
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR)
This is the maximum allowable weight of the fully loaded vehicle (including passengers and cargo). This number - along with other weight limits, as well as tire, rim size and inflation pressure data - are shown on the vehicle's Safety Compliance Certification Label, located on the left front door lock facing or the door latch post pillar. Note: The GVW must never exceed the GVWR.
I apologize for being quick on the trigger and loose on the lip. I learned something today. Didn't mean to offend anyone. Just didn't seem right to me and I stand corrected. Now, Where the heck can I find the ACTUAL weight of my vehicle??????? Thanks :o :o :o

If you have the 5.4L your vehicle weight is approx 5606lbs
and if its a 4.6 it is approx 5502lbs taking this into account you should need a 8409lb winch for a 5.4L truck, so a 9.5ti warn should be good. I took the weight from a ford f-150 online spec sheet. I would say your good to go even if you have added some extra weight.

Is that with your truck bed full of rocks or something?
no, it's FX4 supercrew. No rocks, just stock.
