Cant Custom Tune Roush S/C ?

I've decided to go with the Diablo tuner and I had a place lined up to custom tune it on a dyno and such. They just called me and informed me that they can't custom tune this PCM unless I send it back to ford and get all the stock settings. They said that you cant flash over the Roush flash. Is this true? That will automatically VOID my roush warranty if i get it custom tuned and I cant save the original Roush settings. The only way to do that is to buy an entirely new PCM for $750 I mean this really pisses me off. This means that if I ever have a PCM issue, I am going to have to send my PCM all the way back to Roush to have them relfash it. Dissapointing... very dissapointing.

Interesting... I plan on getting a Roush SC and a Xcal2, wonder if it will run into the same problems.

That's B.s. I spoke with Troyer about it awhile back. He said you go ahead and get the Rousch tune first to get the thing running. Then he will have you get some readings and so forth on the xcalibrator so he can see what it is doing. Hell, I don't see why you cannot save the Rousch tune as your original tune and then replace it with a custom tune. Maybe the dyno guy means he cannot modify the Rousch tune itself.

an SCT dealer should be able to download the tune and tweak it themselves.

Why not get the answer from someone who knows, as opposed to a bunch of yahoos who don't? Call up Troyer and ask them, they're not going to lie to you...I know I've heard Troyer has tuned these newer trucks with the Roush (not Rousch) supercharger. I know on the previous Roush supercharged vehicles ('01-'04 Stage 3 Mustangs) you could not chip or tune them, it was just not possible, then again you wouldn't want to.

You can retune these trucks with an SCT Xcal2. In order to flash it with a Diablo, I have to
a) Buy a new PCM and have it tuned with Diablo
b) Re-flash my current PCM to factory settings, then tune with Diablo(which will void my roush warranty)

The Diablo tuners can't flash over something that is flashed. I am going to go with the Diablo because I know the guys tuning it and I am allowed all the Dyno time I need to get max gain. I dont want anyone from a different state sending me a custom tune because they arent here to see my truck.

At that point, it'd still be worth it to do dyno based datalogging with the X2 and get custom tunes, it might take a run or two, but it's probably still cheaper than buying a new PCM I would think *shrug* I wouldn't put much backing into your custom tune because you're in a different state statement, but that's just me...the capabilities with data logging and technology these days have made custom (remote) tuning very possible and reasonable.

Personally, I've never been too impressed with Diablo stuff...good luck with it all, let us know how it works out.

Can I ask what all this is about? Is it minor changes you want in the programming Roush gave you, or what? I ask because the programming they did on their Stage 3 Mustangs is downright impressive, but even more so it's very very clean and efficient. A/F lines on Stage 3 Mustangs are damn near flat and perfect on almost EVERY one I've seen, but I know the programming is different, and so is how they program it etc.

I was standing next to Mike T. a few weeks ago at the dyno while an '05 F-150 4x4 with a Roush Supercharger that Mike had just completed the final tweeking on the tune with an X-Calibrator2 laid down 340 horses to the rear wheels..Yes you can tune for these....I know the owner stops by here once in a while so maybe he will chime in....

I'd like to know the torque figures on that also. My guess is that if a stock F-150 has 300hp, and you take into account a 30% loss in drivetrain, then you get 210 at the wheels, then add the 112 at the wheels that Roush claims, you are up to 322, and with a tune, squeezing out 18 more......looking at all that, I guess that isn't too bad.
