Exhaust: Part 2

Hey guys, a couple months back I had a magnaflow muffler installed with custom dual tailpipes. Well I never was happy with the installation, it vibrated the floor, SS tips turned brownish, and the welds look like crap(they actually gooped it up with some muffler sealer and said it was normal). The old tails also slanted downward and really looked like they were hanging off the truck. I took it back to the installer and they said the factory uses the muffler goop, I said BS. There was a big glob of it on there, I mean it looked rough. Plus the brown tips against the chrome bumper looked less than desirable.

Well I finally took it to a reputable shop and they were top notch in both quality and customer service. He recommend the chrome tips as they dont turn brown and he ran new tailpipes using the factory style hanger. No vibrations and just the look I wanted. The shop is A1 muffler in Jonesboro, Ga they are top notch. Later guys.

Should have stuck with the stainless tips. That chrome is gonna rust. Make sure to keep it waxed!

You know Ive heard that, but Ive had the chrome tips on my Tbird for over 3yrs and have no rust. Then again I made sure to polish them when I washed the car, but they still look great. The SS tips I had on my 93 L had faded drastically in 2 yrs no matter how hard I tried to polish them. And actually, you are not supposed to wax chrome that is exposed to heat, they make special "Hot Chrome" polish that does not leave any chemicals to stain the chrome and also not abrasive enough to harm the chrome.

I agree chrome will rust if not taken care of, but Im the type of person that you could eat off my vehicles. I guess I will see how long they hold up.
