What Next?

Now that I have the Roush installed and broken in, what next?

I have saved up a few extra bucks and I'm not sure what to do next. I've been thinking about going with a tuner. There is a place here in CO called Finish Line and I've spoke to them several times about getting a custom tune. They sell the Diablo tuner for $400 and they told me that if I buy it through them they will custom tune it on a dyno for about $200. They said my dyno time will not be hourly based because they will take all day if needed to tune it to the fullest. I was also told that the Predator records factory settings and there is no way the dealership is going to be able to detect the tuner unless they do extensive research etc.

I know all of you are going to recommend Troyer to do this. This is my only problem. I know they will custom tune the chip, but they arent here to see my truck. Not all trucks with a Roush s/c are the same. Every truck is different and you are much better off getting a tuner from someone who has a dyno and is able to tune your truck to its specific needs. I dont really want to waste my money on a tuner with a generic tune. On top of that, I live at a high altitude, so the previous tunes handed out to other Roush trucks arent going to help me too much.

I am not sure if a tuner is the next best step to take. What do you all think?

Does the Diablo not record you factory tune? I would go with the dyno tune given your circumstance. Damn, after the supercharger your still looking for more power. I think you should have gotten a new Z06. That's what I'm savin for. The poor man's Ferrari!

I think you should call Mike and get yourself an X-calibrator2. Then you can data log your truck and let Mike do the custom tuning from that information you provide. I have personally seen several trucks he has tuned this way after the Rousch installation and I have been very impressed with the results...you will NOT find anyone out there with the knowledge and tuning abilities that he has.. Believe it !!!!!!
I wish I could tell you everything I know about what and who he has done custom tuning for, but I am sworn to secrecy...

I am actually installing a new hood soon. I was going to go with the Roush hood scoop, but it is NON FUNCTIONAL!?!?!? what is that? I am going to go with a functional hood that will allow some air flow in. This of course is after I get the chip.

Do you feel even after the Supercharger like there are some trucks out there who can beat you? I am not talking about the numbers, but your feeling. I am asking because a $5,000+ investment in my truck is going to have a lot to live up to. Do you feel a little let down by your expectations? And please be truly honest, I know it was a significant improvement but were you expecting more.

What about gears?

Personally spending $5000 for a supercharger on a 6000 lbs truck is going to let you down some but thats just my guess. If you want to play, you gotta pay.

No. My stock 1/4 mile time was 18.2 and after the blower it brought it down to a 16.2. No way am I dissapointed. I know for a fact that I can beat all trucks except lightning and SRT10. The reason I want to do more is because my #1 goal is to make this truck faster than an SRT10. To do that, I need to shave 2 more seconds off of my 1/4 mile time. So I was just wondering what you guys thought I should do next.

you will get way more gains from exhaust mods than more intake. if you waqnt more air to come in get a 9lb pully and fuel injectors, but i'd wait on the intercooler to come out.

Fuel pump, 40 lb injectors, new mass air flow, headers, custom dyno tune.
i dont think a new maf sensor for these trucks are worth a crap

Ford Man Dan, may I ask a few questions?
What gearing is under your truck now?
What size are your tires?
What are you using for traction control?
Do I understand you to be using stock PCM settings?
What body model is your new model?
Just trying to get where you are at.

Also, at what altitude are you running your 18's and now 16's?
And how are you getting your times. G-tech, actual strip? Are they adjusted for altitude?

Thanks, just want everyone trying to offer suggestions to know where you are at in this process.
Thanks
Chris

Gears - 3.73
Tires - For some reason I've forgot, Ill check in morning
Traction Control - Everything is stock
PCM Settings - Roush PCM settings (soon to be tuned)
Body Model - Scab
Altitude = 6,000ft
1/4 times are from a drag strip. One of my problems was traction. I was peeling out for a good 10 feet each run
