If you paid $1800 for an ARE Z, on a 5.5' bed, you got ripped off & ripped off good. The most expensive I found for the Z for a 6.5' bed was $1600 + tax. Additionally, if you paid ANYTHING for installation, you got ripped off. The place I purchased my Century from tried to charge me for installation. I simply told them I would be more than happy to find a place that wouldn't. They gave me the clamps & tape for free after that.

Hmm....i know it's cold in a kc-10,....but even my pilot math shows me that 1600 + tax is about 1725 bucks. Hmm...so with 75 bucks install since they had to get a FORKlift to put it on my lifted truck, i think we are looking right at 1800 bucks. Thanks for playin' the math quiz

I like the sarcasm, subtle yet effective. It's actually quite comfortable inside a KC-10. The DC-10 (which the KC-10 is obviously based on) was the only old school passenger plane ever made with the comfort of the passengers as one of the foremost concerns. I really don't know if the new planes have passenger comfort in mind. I know Boeing products don't.

My bad, I meant to write $1600 INCLUDING tax. Like I said, if your dealer charged you for installation, you need to find a new dealer. When you pay that much for a product, installation charges of any kind are a rip off. I shopped around to 3 Century dealers until I found one who would give me the clamps and installation for free. I also took an invoice from the other two places with me. This dealer matched the other prices, honored the Century internet coupon, installed for free & even washed my truck for me. That's service right there. I got the Century Royal out the door for $1240.

Same principle as buying tires from a dealer service department. They want more than double for the tire itself & then want you to pay for mounting, balancing & disposal. Stupidity I tell you, stupidity.

I know the answer now - in new jersey there are probably more than 2 dealers within 2 hours of where you live. HAHA...suck *** oklahoma and little no no compeition drives prices higher. Especially since people love their trucks here.....market economy i guess...

Try 3 more in 30 minutes. Market competition is pretty fierce around my place. I honestly think some of the car dealers around here would cut each others throat if they could find a place to hide the bodies.

I really can't say anthing against your logic. I've been to Altus, Enid, Ft Sill & OKC. OKC is fine I guess but I found Altus & Enid to be off the chart boring. I definitely wouldn't want to live in either of those two places. When I was in Enid, everyone hung out at Applebee's. Not because they wanted too, because it was the only place to hang out. Competition is a good thing I guess.

Reviving an old thread...but I second that...Indiana-red4x4 what is that box hanging? I've been looking at the ARE Z series topper/shell/canopy/etc, and they have lockable storage that connects to the roof that looks like that box. Is that what this is? Cause if so, that would be AWESOME. I'd like something to store rifles during hunting season, and random other stuff during the off season, and this would allow me to keep the space under my rear seat open to other things as I was looking to get a Du-ha underseat storage there.

Also, could you email me what kind of price you got your century topper for. Gracias!
