Too bad i dont even drive my truck that much (gas prices forced me to buy a cheap 88 honda, gets 29 mpg) but it will dang sure look good. Would you guys know how the guy with the white truck got the chrome surround. Mine would look sweet with that surround. Any ideas? Thanks

thanks for the tips, so you just took off the whole surround? from the looks of it it only looks like 2 bolts on each side of the grille. hmm. maybe i can just take em off and do it inside...

Just to add my two cents for anyone else doing this mod. When removing the old grill from the hood it helps to have a second set of hands. Makes it alot easier and helps prevent you losing any of the bolts and possibly damaging the hood or grill surround. There are 7 bolts total if I recall.
Once inside,on a carpet or blanket, lay your grill face down. At this point you will decide whether or not the old grill is worth keeping. I tried to save mine but found it too difficult and I didnt want to risk damaging my chrome surround. So what I did was work my way around and bend or break the tabs off the honeycomb grill. Once that was done I gently worked my way around and pryed the surround free. Its very important to take your time with that part as the surround itself isnt very strong and would snap if you twist it or bend it severely while removing it.
As FX4 said be sure to snap the new one im firmly but be CAREFUL. Once its snapped in it should be pretty flush. Mine has a few spots I think I missed but its hard to tell once you put it together.
Finally, clean her up, hop in, and drive around pointing at the other F-150 owners on the road who have no idea where you got that grill.
Enjoy!

popping the stock surround away from the stock grill was the hardest part. i used a screwdriver to pry the black fasteners back and pop the painted surround off. i would def. reccomend doing this on carpet inside. it allows you to get everything put back together ready to bolt back on without having to worry about scratching anything.
