05 to 06 head unit

Maybe this should be over in the audio section

Im currently in an 05 XLT but will be moving to an 06 Lariat next week. The 05 has the 6 disk mp3 and the 06 has the single disc but also has the controls on the steering wheel.

I replaced the 05 head unit with a Kenwood using a Metra frame and a Scosche harness. I know the steering wheel controls are out but do you think the adapter harness will work on the 06?

Thanks
Jeff

Same wiring harness since 04, may have different locations for the pins. Who told you your steering wheel controls wont work?

Nobody actually told me. Im just assuming that since the Kenwood does not have volume leve inputs that the steering wheel controls wouldnt function.

bofer,
You should have no problem doing that. I just changed out my single CD player on my 2004 with a 6 Disc changer from a 2005. The 6 disc changer had a couple extra plug ins on the back (I assume it is probly an audiophile head unit) but i just pluged my harness into the plug in that matched on the 6 disc changer and every thing works fine.
