unusual bumper question...

ok so im gonna try to get rid of my stock rear bumper on ebay:

came with the factory hitch. is there a designated class for these hitches? its an '05 5.4 4x2 xlt

im trying to decided if i should put it all up as one unit or take the hitch part off and sell it separately... the hitch is welded to the bumper mounts so if i took it off it would only leave the chrome shell... any opinions?

thanks

Sell them seperatly, but you might do better localy. There is a stock hitch on e-bay right now for 100 bucks plus 80 shipping. Not really worth that much to me, as I have seen them locally for under a 100 total. The bumper is probably worth more as it is chrome. If it came with a front chrome there would be plenty of takers I suspect.

If it had rear sensors I would buy it. Still looking for someone who wants to trade bumpers, but I need someone with a Lariat. The problem...I have a silver FX4 and the Lariat doesn't come in silver.

i wouldnt mind selling locally, i just dont know where to start without going through great lengths... could put a classified add here i guess.

but yeah i knew shipping would be alot. this thing has got to weight 60-70 lbs with the brackets...

ill watch and see what that one on ebay will do if anything. another problem is it isnt in perfect shape. chrome is good except one small scratch. the poly pad has a cpl scartches and digs. all this happened from moving it and keeping it in storage the last 6 months i figured itd be good for someone who needs a replacement but doesnt want to shell out the $$ for a brand new one...

btw brypink2, i did see a bumper with sensors on ebay. would have to be repainted tho...

That hitch was up for 150.00 the first week. It's a relist, no takers the first time. The price he has for shipping is not what he wants.
I was sorta thinking about it at 150 shipped so I emailed him and he wanted more. Not complaining, that sucker looks hard to ship, and I'm a long way away.
You probably have a local Recycler, pennysaver, greensheet, etc. with very cheap run till sold adds. Most towns over 50k have them. Next time you are at a 7-11, or whatever, grab one and see if they have free or cheap adds.
Well,
Best of luck

You’re right. It is awkward and heavy. The shipping sucks because of its size. With the bumper mounts welded on like they are, it takes a pretty large box. If I could get the box just a few inches shorter, the shipping would only be around $40.

I did get $155 for the chrome bumper, though.

yes, factory hitch is class4.

I believe the bumper itself is rated at class 3.

it was around 75. It is just the size of the box. The difference between oversize 2 and oversize 3 has been around 30-40 bucks.

I did, however, cut the box down on the hitch by 3 inches, and now it is an oversize 2. I can ship to Cal for about 35.
