34 in. Super Swampers LTB's
 

Anybody have these on their 04 or 05? I think they will be my next tire if I don't have a lift by then. 4Wheelparts said they will fit with a leveling kit. Sounds like ideal size to me... only problem is not so long of a tread life but they are so cheap! $127 each plus 4WP constantly has sales.

They would be the ideal tire if offroad performance is much more important that ride, handling and quiet.

You also have to consider that they are a bias-ply tire. That means they will have a tendency to flat spot overnight. The first few miles in the morning can be kinda rough until they warm up.

And they don't have any siping and have large tread blocks. This will make wet weather handling a little more interesting.

I have run a few set of bias-ply swampers on my Jeep, and wouldn't even consider them on one of these trucks. The fact that they are cheap won't make up for the increased treadwear, increased noise and rough ride. ;)

thanks for the input. I think ill probably continue saving towards a lift and tires and hope I have enough by the time my goodyears die (which wont be too long). Its too bad its the only 34 inch off-road tire for 17's. If they werent such a soft compound I'd be sold.

hwm3 is correct. However, the Goodyear Wrangler MTR is available in 305/70-17 which is a 34x12.50-17.

Goodyear MTRs are not a mud terrain tire. If your looking for offroad performance, look at BFG mud terrains and other mud terrain tires.

Goodyear MT/R are most certainly a Mud Terrain tire with a agressive tread they even make MT/R'S in 40x12.50R17

Not trying to be a jerk here, but MT/R stands for Maximum Traction/Reinforced not Mud Terrain. ;)

Those tires are designed for offroad performance on rocks and hard packed dirt. The getted packed with mud easily and work about as good as an aggressive all terrain in mud. ;)

That's not what the MTR owners and magazine test are saying.

You can look at Nitto Terra grapplers also....they have one that is 34" also....and have gotten rave reviews from most using them. :bandito:

Those are 35" BFG ATs.

I've also had a set of bias-ply swampers on the Jeep. Trust me, the MTR is no better in mud than the BFG AT. ;)

Ok....

Swampers come in bias or radial for the record. Get the radials if you get them at all. Would I put them on a street truck? No. Had them on a off road rig and they went fast, on the road I give them about 15 to 20,000 miles.

MT/Rs, Not mud tires. Designed more for rocks and really they are not a good design period. Good Year is actaully haveing alot of them and other tires that use there "silent armor" back because of vibration issues. Goodyear can not do a good try ply tire like BFG.

I am waiting alittle while before I get some aggressive tires for my truck. As a distributer of tires I know alittle inside about what BFG has up its sleeves. I can say no more.

Nittos come in a 305/55r20 that is just shy of 34".

Can ya tell us when they'd be available?
