Airforce One- What a crock!!!!

Well, I am not happy after 1200 miles with the AF1! I have had a CEL for the last 1000 miles and it still has not gone away. I have an 05 FX4 with the new tube design. Mine is loud at half and WOT.

Also!! When my truck shifts into 2nd gear it bogs down, then goes, then bog's, then goes, etc... WTF is that. First gear is great!!

I called AF1 and Everett told me he would send a new tube right away but it never came-LIAR!!!!

I am about to return the damn thing and get my money back and go with the XCAL 2!!!

Sorry to hear....

Sorry to hear about all your troubles with the Airforce 1...

I do support your decision to go with the XCAL2 and be sure to get it from Troyer. I'm running an XCAL1 with an AirAid and have NO problems, period!
Getting up the nerve to go with a Roush, Troyer tuned.

Good luck...

Any CEL should be investigated right away. Did you ever pull the code for the CEL? Is it related to the AF1??? Your the first person I've read that threw a CEL with a 05 F150.

I have a 2005 FX4 F150 and the AF1 for about 1000 miles and no CEL. If I did get one the first thing I would do is pull the code to determine if it is related to the AF1. If it was related I'd call the vendor, hopefully someone who cares about their customers, to find a immediate resolution to my problem. If the CEL could not be cleared, the AF1 would not still be in my truck. Period.

Why risk irreversibly damaging your engine just so you can have a shiny intake tube under your hood?

I also have had CEL problems since I installed the Air Force One. The first CEL poped up 1 minute after install. I reset per instructions, and it came right back on. I haven't pulled the code yet...Im waiting for my ExCalibrator to read the code. I live in Denver....5280 ft. and wonder if thats an issue.

I don't mean to be a douche or anything but I have heard (mostly) all problems with the AF1 (dremmel the MAF hole, uncomfortably loud noises, not just at WOT, CELs...etc. .etc). I'm aware that more people will post on the bad then they will on the good but does anyone think that alot of people are buying the AF1 just because Troyer says it's the best? I noticed on his website it's the only one he sells. Is that because he only stocks the best or is he saying its the best because it's the only one he stocks? After all, he is a salesman. Mike seems to be the only "professional" here that has tested the CAIs so it would make sense to listen to him but I think Dodge is a better truck performance wise, but overall Ford destroys it IMO. AF1 gives the most HP apparintly but quality control seems horrible
Like I said, I'm not calling him out or questioning him in anyway. When I get this thing tuned I'm definately going with MT, I'm just curious as to what everyone else thinks.

Forgive me Mike, I'll be giving you my bank for some tunes shortly, just not for the AF1.

You'd better look at what he sells again.

I had no luck with the oriiginal AF1 tube on my 2004 SCREW. CEL after CEL. \Troyer had claimed to have tested the tube, with almost a year of r&d, yet many of us with 2004's were seeing the CEL illuminate. Clearly this was a true CEL not just a perameter problem as originally suggested by some on this board. When the cel was illuminated, the truck performed like sh*@, with poor mileage. The cel would extinguish after a reset and then illuminate after 18 miles or so of WOT running.

I must say, when I took the problem to Anita @ troyer, she kicked some a$$ and put me in touch with Everett, who did ship me a 'new' tube and put me in touch with the design engineer for the AF1. After dremeling out the MAF socket yet again, I installed the new tube and what the hell do you know? The CEL went away.

I do believe the AF1 gives you some add'l hp, but the revised tube probably does not yield quite as much as the original (based on butt dyno). My mileage has increased nicely with the AF1, I'm avg'g 16.5 mpg, which isn't bad for a 6000 lb truck. I have no problem with the noise the AF1 produces at WOT. Going forward, I'd check out the Granitelli CAI system, which comes with a new MAF sensor installed in their tube. Very nice. For me, I'm adding a tune and Magnaflow next. Enjoy.

bubbadoo98,

My experience with the AF1 was similar to yours. After curing the CEL problem with the "new" tube I discovered that it was too loud while towing my travel trailer. That's why I sold it and went back to the DWV intake and K&N drop-in. I still get some performance gain and it's nowhere near as loud. Plus, the DWV setup doesn't have those resonances at certain RPMs.

Hi all,

I have the Troyer Stage one kit with the AF1 (new tube) Magnaflow SISO and the Xcal2. Other than taking a file to the Maf hole everything works great. I have no excess noise and the performace is good.

I figured A positive post was called for

Mike

No kidding.

Awesome power, killer "4 barrel" sound at WOT, and no CEL's.

No complaints whatsoever.
