I bought my truck on June 13, 2005. I have installed window guards and put black pipes on each side. My truck is a Silver Metallic, Flareside with black trim.

My first mod, I designed a decal for my truck that says FX2 with the words Street below it (Pictures coming soon).

Anyway, I am wanting to buy a bug deflector for my truck, but I am looking for one that will not touch my hood at all, I do not want it rubbing the paint off.

You guys have any suggestions on what kind I should get?

I got the lund and it mounts to the same holes as the frill under the hood and it does not toucht the paint at all, stays about 3/8" above.

I'd go with the Ford Low-Profile. Oh wait, I did.

 

AVS model here. Works fine.... lasts a long time!

 

Opted to go with the Ford standard profile deflector instead of the low profile one. From what I can tell

Low Profile = Sportier
Standard = "Truck-ier"

 

My Ford Low Profile has done well for the last year. Looks good on my silver truck.

The ford low profile is the way to go.

 

I bought the "Bug Flector" brand, at Autozone, and I have not been real happy with it. The strangest thing, any other time, it's great, but when the air is really cool and damp (foggy type conditions) that thing is noisy as hell. I can't explain it, but it sounds like it is slapping it way through the air.
On a side note, the Ford low profile looks really sharp.

Whatever you get, don't get one of those big ones that look like blue blockers look on a 70 year old.

In other words, some of them have a lip at the top that supposedly protects the ENTIRE hood from little rocks that come up from the road.........whatever.......

Get one that does the job of being a BUG SHIELD and nothing more.

Get one like ToddziLLa's - that one looks sweet.

 

Do any of these flap around in the wind? My gf has a Lund on her 2000 F150 and it flaps around real badly. Drives me nuts but she loves it as it's her only mod.
