Another K&N mod

I had used this filter on my hemi, I put the stock airbox back in before I traded the truck in. Had some spare time today and found out the filter fits pretty good in the 05 F-150 with the 5.4L

Here's a Pic of the Truck ready for work.

You should run two filters for maximized filtration

I hope you filled in the holes on the bottom of the stock tube or you'll be sucking unfiltered air in through those.

My favorite part of all that was "I had used this filter on my hemi, I put the stock airbox back in before I traded the truck in. Had some spare time today and found out the filter fits pretty good in the 05 F-150 with the 5.4L"

Im assuming it was traded for Ford pictured...

Doesn't seem to be any loss/gain in performance.

The sound isn't much different than stock, it is a little louder than stock when you stomp on it.

Yes the Hemi was traded in on the Ford in the picture.

I calculate my mileage at every fill-up, I get around 14 to 14.5 mpg with the Ladder Racks and Tool boxes. I am curious to see if the K&N will affect the mpg.

I was getting 11.5 mpg with the Hemi. I travel about 600 miles a week. I was hoping to get a 5-6 mpg increase with the Ford.....but a 3 mpg increase is good.

Just a word of "caution" to you. I also did exactly the same thing that you have just done with my '04 and ended up going lean, very lean. So lean that the truck would go into "limp mode home" randomly....That ugly stock intake was very well R&D'd before Ford started using it and they "DO NOT" react well to any modifications. BE CAREFUL !!!!!

What if you use the whole K&N kit, has anyone noticed any issues with the full kit like this? I am thinking about making it my first upgrade.

Many people use the CAI kits so go for it.

I believe Marc was warning of a potential problem using the cylindrical/cone type filter with the STOCK intake.
