Question mounting towhooks

Hi all! I'm new here, I've got an 05 4x2 SuperCrew with the 5.4L. I previously owned a 2002 Ranger FX4 and traded it for the F150. I'm really loving the new truck. Well, down to business. I searched the boards for this topic already and actually found a thread related, however it was inconclusive and thus I must ask again.

So I picked up some towhooks from an 04-05 4x4 off of ebay. I took a look at the frame rails where they mount. The holes exist in the frame, however I expected some sort of threaded insert where a bolt would thread into, and to my surprise, found nothing. So I'm hoping you kind folks can help me out and tell me what I need to mount them. Anyone with a 4x4 can snap a pic for me? I'm hoping there is some additional bracket I'm lacking, otherwise I'll have to get creative. I found it odd the holes would be there and no captured nut, insert, or means to bolt them in. Incidently, they are HUGE towhooks and weigh in at 6.5lbs a piece (for those curious).

Cheers!

There is a sort of figure 8 shaped stamped metal insert that is threaded for the mounting bolts. The insert goes inside of the frame tubes.
I replaced mine to mount a brushguard, so I'll see if I can find them and get a pic.

TX - just curious - did you have to remove the front bumper to get the nit bracket inside of the frame rail? Seems those adding two hooks may have to do that - or just head to the welding shop and have them welded on....

No, there is more or less a slot in the end of the frame tube that the insert will fit through with a little jiggling. The brushguard uses a piece of 1/4" steel, about 2 x 4 inches, that is tapped for the 3/8" bolts.
I would think that it would be about as easy to have a pair of them fabricated as opposed to welding the tow hooks to the frame.

Ah that would explain it. If you have a pic that would be awesome. I thought about just having them welded in, but was trying to avoid that if I could. Thanks for all the help!
