Gas Mileage with lift
Gas Mileage with lift
I am looking at installing a 6" Fabtech lift with 35x12.50.18 tires. I am concerned about the major loss in gas mileage if any, especially due to the recent gas price increase. I think I am getting around 15 mpg now. Can anyone with a 6" tell me what there current gas mileage is? I have an 04 supercrew FX4. Thanks.
well without regearing i would expect you to lose about 3-4 mpg city and 1 or stay the same on the highway with gearing to 4.56 you would lose about 1 in the city and 1-2 on the highway because the wind resistance, good luck and these are all edjucated gueses

How shorter gears HELP fuel economy?

I have a 04 FX4 with the fabtech lift and 35's with the stock 3.55 gears and I get around 12 MPG or so. But the traffic here sucks, it take me sometimes a hour to get home but it is only a 11 mile drive, and 9 miles of it are on the freeway.
But I only got around 14 MPG before the lift.
Just do the lift it just makes the truck look alsome!!!
By the way I really didn't notice a power loss that much, only when I tow my boat up the mountains, but day to day driving it will still haul a$$.

Edjucated gueses!! LMAO, you guys crack me up at least once a day!
Well i know i get about 10mpg and thats with a 6 inch pro comp with 35 inch a/t's. I dont drive it like a granny either so you could probably get better gas miliage if your not a lead foot. Thats with ac on about 75% of the time.

Right - but the engine would be turning probably significantly higher RPMs while on the highway...Mashing the gas pedal (to get the truck moving) is easier on economy than high engine speeds.
