I am questioning the new chrome package for the 2006 Lariat. Has anyone seen a Lariat with the package? I have only seen an XLT with it. With the Lariat are the door and tailgate handles painted in body color with chrome straps, or are they the unfinished flat black color with chrome straps? Also, the chrome wheels on the XLT I saw looked almost like they were painted chrome. The backside portion of the wheel was not chrome and the transition felt rough like overspray. I know chrome plating is a thing of the past, so do you all think that paint manufacturers are good enough now that they have a chrome color? I aprreciate any feedback you all might have. Thanks.

 

While I can't find the thread now, someone posted earlier this year about the chrome package and the fact that the handles were still flat black, only with a chrome pull. If I were Ford, I'd offer paint-matched body parts for all trim levels, and not just the door pulls. I'd love to see paint-matched bumpers on an XLT, as an option. Why should the FX4, Lariat Two-Tone, King Ranch, and for goodness sake, the STX be the only packages to get paint-matched bumpers?

Lariats and King Ranches should get paint-matched handles for sure. On a $39,XXX+ truck, the flat black looks quite dumb to me.
