Official Shock Thread

First off, I finally got my truck back. Im looking at getting new shocks, either the Rancho adjustables or the Bilsteins. Where can you find the best prices currently on the two?

I know for the Bilsteins, the best price I found was at www.eshocks.com.

Everything except the leaf springs, which are on national backorder. The leather seat that my local deal screwed up, Ford denied the claim but the owner of this new dealer is going to just pay for it out of his pocket and he said that if both front seats don't match hes going to redo both fronts. Theres a SLIGHT steering wheel nibble at exactly 70 mph but I drove 3 other 4wd 2005s, a 2006 and they all had this. Im thinking with shocks its going to fix it for sure. Funny thing is though, all of the trucks that did it were 4x4s and I drove a few 2wds and they didn't.

I just ordered some Bilstein 5100s for the rear of my truck. They should be here later this week. I'll let you know how they are.

What is wrong with your leaf springs? My truck is going in to get the left leaf spring replaced (among other problems), it is sagging and causing my truck to lean.

So, are you saying stock leaf springs are on back order? Most of my new mods below are on hold until I get this fixed.

Yup national backorder, two dealers told me the same thing but they are just creaking. They can't get them to stop by cleaning and greasing them so they're going to just replace them instead.

How did they help the steering wheel nibble I have had the tires roadforce balanced twice still there. After shock replacement give me an update if that helped it.

If you haven't decided yet, I'd recommend the Bilsteins. I got them at all four corners of my 4x2 SCrew, and I couldn't be happier. I thought about the adjustable Rancho's, but I decided that there wouldn't really ever be a time when I'd want to stiffen them up... 90% use of my truck is a daily driver... The other 10% us either towing my travel trailer, or making the weekend warrior home depot run. The Bilsteins are wonderful for all of the above-mentioned tasks... Especially when towing; I couldn't believe the added stability that they provide.

Thumper, are you going to lift it, or not anymore. If you are going to anytime soon, dont bother changing the shocks out.
